I am making my girlfriend a xmas pressie, ive made a prototype from copper as a proof of concept (practice)
it will be made from silver eventually, think light blue ball oriental print (ish) dress at a semi formal ball (that's what it was made for mostly)



its not perfect but, as I say, proof of concept

its 10 meters of .8mm copper wire, its taken 8 hours ish to make all the link.

That's really nice. It will look nice with the light blue dress as the silver will stand out. There's a lot to it but its simple not fussy.

That will be stunning in silver. Personally I would of gone for a .6mm wire. Just to make it a little more delicate. Having said that a little more delicate may not stand out enough next to the dress. So what stone you going with for the finished item? Quarts, moonstone, opal, sapphire, Aqua marine, topaz, lapis lazuli? I could carry on listing stones ( I really really like stones ) but I won't. what shape and cut you going with? Pear/tear drop, round, oval. Cabochon or faceted cut?

You have a lucky girlfriend. i love the thought of making gifts, the OH and i have for years never bought each other anything for xmas and bdays for years now, so if we are to give each other anything it must be hand/homemade. So personal and wonderful.

It is beautiful, i think she will love it.

What prompted you to make her this?

Last year I got her a pendant with a piece of the moon in it, I've spent the last year wondering how I was going to top it (she was very very happy with the gift last year )
I decided that the only way to trump last year would be this project.
I hate to to think what next year will entail...

Thats lovely Sam - for next year you could have a look into going to the Suffolk coast when the amber starts getting washed in and create another unique piece for her.
