I love winter (and all the seasons, come to that) - don't have to worry about pests in the garden (other than boar and deer) or the endless round of watering and weeding, and there's still plenty to eat out there.
Winter walks are the best although France does need to learn about pubs with roaring log fires ...
But, I'm so glad not to be having to go to work/come home in the dark any more.
And put me down for one or two Venus Slug Traps when they hit the shopsLe Sarramea https://jgsgardening.blogspot.com/

Also thinking a slug could eat it's way out of a VFT before the Trap had time to start eating it.
I do have some Sarracenia though that might drown the slugs then digest them.
One of the plans for next year on the lottie is to dig out an area for a pond and some bog/marshland around one side of it to plant out my VFT's and Sarracenia to see if they will thrive and possibly multiply/set seed to increase my stock and increase their health and size. Be interesting to see if they put a dent in the negative bug life.Life should be more like Bonsai...

Prefer dark at night but I take a scope outside and try to recall where things are to observe.
Worst aspect is trying to work out which specific murderous creature it is that is creaping up behind me. So far hedgehogs haven't worked out how to climb trees to jump on me.
