  • Just had some bad news from my sister about her dog. Amy was poorly last night but seemed to pick up a bit later on/ early hours of the morning. They had a vets appointment this morning but while they were there Amy was taken ill and it was decided that the kindest thing to do was have her put to sleep so she didn't suffer anymore.
I am really gutted for my sister and her family. They worked so hard in getting her better and thought they had turned the corner with the diagnosis of Cushing's disease and the new medication seemed to of kicked in. So sad

    • Pouring with rain again. Went into town but managed to crunch the wheel arch on the car in the multi storey on the way out. The exit is tight but made worse when delivery vans park on the double yellow lines opposite. Grrr!
Went to buy a cotton towelling dressing gown for my dad's birthday. I found one eventually but am I the only person who can't bear the synthetic ones which seem to be popular now? I can't bring myself to touch them, in the same way some people can't stand polystyrene.

      • Sorry about Amy, NVG. Tough decision but the kindest.

        • I think after a couple of very large glasses of wine my sister will agree with you VC. At the end of the day Amy had started to suffer and they made the right decision.

                  • Thanks everyone. Think its the hardness of having to make final decision and being there. Its one of those jobs my dad use to do.

We went to town for his birthday gift and some lunch. Now have other grandson and grandaughter for the afternoon.
Just seeing how quickly they are growing up is scary.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

It's even scarier realising how old we grand parents are getting

                        • I'm so sorry to read the sad news about your sister's dog, NVG. Having to say goodbye to a cherished pet is very hard but of course it's not fair to let animals linger if very poorly so they made the right decision for Amy.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.
