  • Good morning All. A beautiful morning here with the sun streaming in through the windows.
Off to sort some stuff in the post office, then to the library and then grocery shopping. That should take me up to lunch time.

And your hands begin to harden.

Have to pay for 4 new tyres for the car today, so not an ideal start to the weekend (must remind herself to keep the wheels on the ground when going around corners )

Off to India tomorrow morning, so must finish packing when I get done with work
Trip, have a safe journey. I know its work related but make sure you enjoy it.

      • That was sneaky Nicos, opening the GR at 4.25 in the morning!

Glad your kitchen is coming on.

            • Have a good trip to India, Trip

Had a lovely morning at garden centre - nice hot choc loaded with cream, chocolate flakes and cherry jam. Some black forest theme - don't want to know how many calories

Came back to a bit of a disaster in the polly. I'm not sure what happened whether it was the wind (hard to believe) or more likely maybe an animal like a cat or a fox had got inside but all the contents of one shelf had been knocked to the floor which of course damaged other plants underneath too. I was so gutted when I saw the mess

After a clear up, the polly itself looks fine which is the main thing. Most of my swiss chard plants were damaged and some choy sum. Some plants had the main stems snapped through so sadly won't be putting on any real growth now. It could be a lot worse I know. Just sad to see things destroyed after all the work put in to grow them. I've still got quite a bit left so not disastrous.

LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

Away from Sat to Sat effectively (home late Friday)..I'll try drop in to see that the staff in the GR are not being abused..................................................without me being there too

In terms of and with regard to (getting all business speak here now ) the bar tab, I believe I covered proportionately more than my share last year (due to some people having their pockets sowed up for some reason )
I also remember that I occasionally carried out late night/early morning security checks/provision of company for the barmaid (delete as appropriate) on many Friday & Saturday nights which I didn't seek any expenses for....

Anyways first night is free I believe
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

                • Have a nice time trip.

Marie i feel for you, animals are my worse enemy in the garden, there is always something running around to snap my plants in to pieces. I get upset every time.
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

                  • Just been down to my greenhouse to cover all my plants with fleece. This is the first time I have had to do this year.
I rigged up a frame like a tent from an old dolls house belonging to my grandkids and put my Sweetpea plants in underneath.
The thermomater was only showing 8deg and it felt really cold. The rest is in the lap of the gods, or even in the lap of the weather.

                    • It was a lovely afternoon here, sunny and quite calm. I got down the allotment to lift the last of my maincrop potatoes then brought all the potatoes back home from the allotment shed before the first frost comes.

It's cooling down quite quickly here now, down to 7c in my greenhouse already.

                          • Forgot to mention that we popped into Ikea today ( 10 mins from the Vets) and I had my handbag searched!
I was rather shocked at first, but then pleased.

                              • If these attacks continue, then unfortunately it will become a common reality for more and more people Nicos, which is a pity.... Being searched when you want to go to the shops...not what a free world promised...

Anyway, fire lit and kids watching a Christmas toy show on TV... Up early tomorrow, so won't be staying late in GR tonight
