    • Morning all...it's Groundhog Day here again...rain, rain and more rain, is it ever going to stop? Had a lazy morning this morning in that I have made it from bed to the couch and that's it so you made me feel guilty Scarlet! Housework and then shopping later, looking for some new cushions. Also need a visit to that large Swedish store for some napkins and tea lights. Have a great day everyone.

              • Just come into the main part of the house to warm up!

                Nice big mug of coffee

Nearly finished waxing the rough plastered walls ( a sort of Milky Bar colour)...I'm still ever so keen to open the first box- hopefully later today!

Think I may need to get a portable radiator in there for the next couple of days until the CH rads are installed.

                • Had the gas people here to reconnect the gas. They couldn't as (like the water) it's a shared supply so they have to turn the gas off to my neighbours. They're not allowed to do this without telling them and surprise, surprise, they're all at work. So they'll be back on Monday.

I've been putting a small fan heater in the new extension overnight to help it dry out. It's my only form of heating unless I light the open fire so it spends the day with me in the lounge. I've a small radiator but that's in the bathroom as it's bl@@dy cold in there.

I'm now waiting for the replacement cooker hood to arrive, the one that came last week was damaged. And I need to go out to get the cash to pay my builder.

                  • Good afternoon all. Well, I did'nt get out for my walk after all.
While I was trying to decide which jacket to wear the weather changed and its lashing down ever since.
So, change of plan, spent the morning making Christmas covers for the top of my jam pots for Christmas gifts.

Shopping expedition completed successfully. Phew. Glad that's over and done with 'til next year.
Fully stocked up now with layer's pellets and wood shavings for the chooks, enough to last until February. Hope they don't expect them gift wrapped!

                      • Good afternoon Folks, it's been a cold day here today with heavy showers when collecting grandchildren from school a shower came on and and temperature dropped from 8 to 6 in a matter of minuets, well got the carpet laid and while doing it my wife came to check on me as I was down on the carpet I invited her to come and see out the window where I could see birds circling overhead but she is not much of a nature lover as she told me to get lost, ah well her loss, we could have waited long enough to see the stars.
Well have to go as we are going out for a meal tonight, so I will wish you all a good night, and I am wondering what she would like for her meal, pie and peas or fish and chips? Goodnight
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                        • Just been down to the chippy as I've been too busy to do anything about food today. They stopped doing fish on Fridays and Saturdays a cuppla weeks ago. I had chicken instead. It was so dry it was like eating sawdust. They are Chinese and lovely people. I've known them for over 20 years but I do wonder if they know why we eat fish on Fridays.

                          • Janie....we've found the kitchen has dried much quicker by having both the windows and doors open.
Heating it just evaporates the water, and when it cools down it gets damp again.
Obviously you need to be sure you don't have unwanted guests wandering in, but it's by far the quickest way rather than actually heating the kitchen. Cheaper too!
I imagine it would encourage paint to dry too.

We managed to get 4 carcasses built this afternoon / evening.
Hoping to get the other 6 done tomorrow, and maybe dome drawers and doors started.

I have a small window of opportunity before bedtime on the string front - the string is but 10mins long, and I'm tying it to the table leg here:
