  • Good day All.
Hope you are all safe and dry and have escaped the flooding. Such devastation. Dreadful
The rain has eased off a bit here and I'm busy - trying to decide whether to buy a wireless wireless or a DAB wireless for the kitchen. So many options and I don't understand most of the jargon Can you get a wireless cat's whisker?
Have a good day, especially our YOUNG MAN

      • Went off to the church this morning to find they had a visiting priest who mixed up the mass times, so we decided to go to the Botanic Gardens instead as the weather was so good.
Had a lovely walk and then went to the cemetary next door to visit OH grandparents.
Home now and having an Irish coffee.

        • Hello Had a marvellous time at my daughter's on Christmas Day. Eldest GG cooked up a storm and she said she couldn't cook! It has made them wonder how I've managed it single-handed all these years Our all-singing-all-dancing turkey yesterday was a real disappointment - very gristly and dry and no, I didn't overcook it. \how very dare you even suggest that?

          • Hi all.
Spent most of the day keeping in touch with my brother and sisters, who all still live in Airedale - one of the worst affected valleys with the floods overnight.
My brother is at the top of the valley - not far from Deano's allotment, but my sisters both live in the valley bottom. My eldest sister just avoinded being flooded by a matter of feet, but my other sister was given 10 minutes to protect her belongings before evacuating at midnight.
It's the first time I've ver known domestic properties affected by flooding in the area.

            • Oh it's so sad! Our village has been flooded several times, not sure how but we have never been flooded inside unlike some of our neighbours. We just get stranded. The old lady in her late 80's down the road has been flooded twice in two years. The first on Christmas Eve 2013, the second time just 6weeks after living in a hotel for months while her house was being repaired. Seeing first hand how heartbroken and spent she and my other neighbours were my heart really goes out to them all.

              • Evening, folks. Hope you are all well?

We're having a pretty good festive season here - a flurry of activity from Weds before Christmas to yesterday, then a breather of a day here for domesticry, then back at it tomorrow for wider family dos, then with friends get togethers later in the week. All good fun!

The Shockingly Expensive Turkey has been worth it both in terms of flavour (you should smell the carcass simmering as I type - mmm mmmmmmm), and it's properly 'meaty' too - far more so than usual. Portion count so far is 4 portions carved hot, then another 8 x 4oz carved from the breasts; and 2lb of meat ready for turning into pies and curry etc. I make that a couple of quid a portion, not counting soup (or - er - one or two 'scraps' for Domino cat, *ahem* ).

Oh - fingers crossed, Trip, can't wait to see the YT link........?

I'm glad we've not been doing much travelling - what with the weather and everyone else on the roads! Mum's a mile across town one way, and brother a mile across town the other, so although there has been a lot of flitting between the two, at least it's been mostly on foot!

                    • Evening all.
Well OH managed to finish work early so we went to a large local garden centre. It was packed but still managed to come away with 3 bags of compost, two bags of reduced onions as 50p each, two trays for my pots to go on oh and two lots of seed potatoes. Managed to get some Sharpe's Express and some Duke of York.
                      Have a good evening everyone

                      • Good evening Folks,I hope everyone had a good Christmas, and Bramble I do wish you and OH all the happiness for the next year, and I am sure one of you should get a medal I just wont say which one I think deserves it It was quite a nice day here today, and got some work done in the garden, cleared out an area and planted 15 mixed lilly bulbs, will gather some seaweed tomorrow and cover the area with it, I just had a read of a post about F1 seeds which was interesting, you can pick up a lot of good information here. Well time to say good night, and just to say some of the information on the post went way over my head, without me having to bend down, but thats the joy of this Forum, a lot of Grapes know what they are talking about, even if I dont. But I can learn Goodnight

                            • It's morning It's morning.......well it's still dark but at least the light is getting closer.

I have been up since 4.15 with the old greyhound who had what the vet called an 'incident', meaning a small stroke on the 23rd.
The injections the vet gave her has meant that she needs to tiddle every 2 hours so.....we take it in turn to get up. She is 11 and a half now and needs all the TLC we can give the daft mutt.

                              I spotted this

and as we spent yesterday constructing another arch and lugging slabs around the garden I can quite believe the picture is true.

                              • Morning all. Quiet day so far. Going to my mom and dads this morning. My dad is going to have a rummage in my seed tins today. This is a guy who says he doesn't want to grow anything from seed but have plug plants. Saying that he has started off some broad bean seeds that he has put in his computer room. My mom say's she hears him talking to them when he goes up to play on his computer.
