  • Now to put the day to rights.

Just been out for a bacon bun and a cuppa with my pal Big Davy. I paid so that should dispel some of the myths about moths in my wallet .

Did a few odds n ends of shopping whilst out and came home with the makings of a pot of Broccoli and stilton soup along with some titbits for evening time.

Poor better half was supposed to be finishing at 3.30pm today but having to deal with calls from poor souls affected by flooding in the last couple of day (She's a manager in an insurance brokerage) and she will not be home till late in all probability. An inconvenience to us but minor in comparison to what folks flooded out are having to cope with.

We have a vertical slatted fence out the back and the constant recent gales are threatening to push one of posts over. Have to do summat to rectify that but a temporary fix will do for now.

Hope everyone behaves over Hogmonay/New Year. My big drinking days at this time of year are a thing of the past. My body tells me now when to stop. When I was a youngster, I didn't get these signals till next day when it was too late .

      • Good work on your part, Nicos, keeping Hibou well with all that going on in her head. Animals are so much stronger than we think - and they don't whinge like some humans Stay strong, Little Hibou x

I'm just back from the Vets with old Mary who has been having the squits, during the night, which is somewhat unpleasant to clean up before breakfast
The Vet (who is also called Mary - though not Hairy Mary) checked her over, gave her an injection and prescribed something to bung her up - a "paste" in a huge syringe.
I was afraid to ask which end to insert it .........Fortunately, its her mouth!

It was Exotic Vet day so we sat in the waiting room with a cockatiel, two guinea pigs and a girl with a big monitor lizard on her chest, called Dave (the lizard - not her chest), which was actually a female (same as her chest).

Looks like the rain is about to start again soon. Just as well as my day has been far too exciting so far and I need to relax with a coffee.

          • Good afternoon everyone.

Sorry to hear the news about Hibou's eye and neck Nicos and Mary's bad tummy VC.

Has finally stopped raining here. The fence panel down the bottom of the garden has finally blown apart. So that's another one the landlord will have to replace.

Anyway have a good afternoon and a happy and safe New Year everyone

              • Evening all! Sorry to hear Hibou's news Nicos, she is a wee fighter that's for sure. And she's not just a cat she's Hibou! I'm like that with my dogs...everyone else has dogs, we have Harry and Alfie, part of the family! Alfie was a bit under the weather this morning...opposite problem to Mary...but he seems to have rallied this evening which is good.

It's chucking it down again but cold frosty weather is forecast for later...kind of weather I like in winter. Hope you all have a lovely evening whatever you have planned.

                • Good evening Folks, it was dry when I got up this morning, was over at the coast so collected more seaweed, was giving a hand to tidy up, when OH said that the washing machine wasn`t working properly so had a look at it and it was decided that a new machine was required (not by me) this made me quite sad as we have had this machine for over twenty years, so now we are waiting for the delivery of a new washing machine. Just come in from walking the dog and the rain is just starting again, and it is very cold outside, must be close to frost. Well I wish you all a good evening and I hope you are all looking forward to a good New Year, and remember if you are waiting up for the bells, dont over do it, and as it is a time for reflection, when I think back, I am sure the Queen blinked when the money came out of my wallet. Goodnight

                  • I did think of starting a new thread for this but it probably happens to other people. My son insisted that I should go to my local to see the new year in. So I did. I didn't stay for the new year stuff. The whole experience was my version of torture.
I'm deaf in one ear and loud music is um confusing. I can cope very well with every day stuff I just have problems with some extraneous noise.

I left before they got to New Year. And something weird is that it is now 25 mins after 12 and the nightmare neighbour hasn't let any fireworks off since 11pm. So what was that about.
