Yes they really do work. Only thing is remembering to empty them. If you don't it smells horid. But give it a go.

Get some big oranges, cut in half and squeeze out the juice, then put them cut-side down around the affected veg - this draws big and little slugs, and works really well so long as you remember to inspect them each morning and deal with the critters! And freshly squeezed juice is a bonus.
