    We're the same bramble - although ours is used extensively during these cold months, it's mainly for stews.

    Saying that, my 7 year old loves them (as do we), it's also a great way of shoving lentils, all sorts of veg and different herbs down his throat.

    I'd advise all to get one, we've got a large one which is a great investment - load it up before work and let it do its thing, however as mentioned before - we sometimes add some gravy granules, stock cubes, or other additional seasoning agent prior to serving for additional taste.

    As an aside -we always use lentils as an ingredient to bulk it up, which has on occasion led me to scour this site searching for growing lentils, apparently it's not worth the hassle.

      I have a curry in mine at the moment for tomorrow or Monday night. It's got loads of both dried beans in it and I added some frozen French beans about half an hour ago too. Smells fab

      Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

        I couldn't live without mine! A "Crockpot" here too! Disagree totally with cleanliness! mines now knocking on three year old, and still looks brand new!



        Cool walled too! Extra bonus! I use it for everything, Stews, Casseroles, Steamed puddings the lot! Really good investment.

        And now forgot who asked! But for a "Curry" Slow style, try a "Lamb Massaman Curry"

        I'd post a recipe etc, but it's been a long day! But belive! It's "Awesome"

          Can't remember what make mine is but it was my nan's and she died in the early nineties so it's knocking on a bit. Still looks good too. I like the fact that my inner dish is safe for the hob so you can brown things before cooking if you want or thicken the gravy on the hot plate if you want without using an extra pan.

            I've got one. Use it for curries and chilli's Mostly. Other half makes the odd stew or casserole when I'm not there. You will never catch me eating stew or casserole after weekly traumatic experiences with said meals as a child

              I've just remembered - my Sister (in Spain) brought one last year, as she really missed her old one. Unfortunately, her new one turned out not to be a slow cooker, but a fast cooker. She found that out the first time she used it! Luckily she was at home, and had just used it for convenience whilst busy, and hadn't gone out for the day, as she would have come home to charred remains. Or worse!

                Damn you lot..Now I am looking at them!
                I see and Andrew James 6.5l one reduced from 49.99 to 29.99 on Amazon and am sorely tempted!
                Any pointers what to look out for?

                  Trip! My only advise I would give is get one with a removable inner bowl, as this is ideal if you want to bang a cooked dish under the grillfor browning off, oh! and get one bigger than you think you might need as a lot will hold a little, but little won't hold a lot!

                      Just buy one, mate!

                      They're very useful for those 'bring some grub' gatherings, that your mates invite you to. We occasionally lend ours to a chum who has a big extended family and a very small kitchen.

                        Only said it was a pain to clean it, not that it was uncleanable, rather like wire wheels on a car. Mine is well over 3 years old but those curvy bits do not make it easy. Still convinced I will break a handle one day.

                          I make carrot and coriander soup in mine, but add a tin of tomatoes, and a good dose of red lentils to add some substance. Leave the carrots whole - the flavour is greatly enhanced. Veggie stock or even just water. Some dried coriander and cumin and fresh coriander at the end before you blitz it. Season to taste. So very, very good. Grand-daughter, who is 13 months, has hers before it is salted at the end and loves it.

                            Oohh and cauliflower bhaji, like bombay potatoes only with cauliflower. Also amazingly good!
