Whits this cleaning, I have never tried that, but looking at this post I may try an air pump over the top of the key board, I have one for blowing up air beds, and it saves me buying anything.
Cleaning?? have you women been at the same school as my wife?
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Keyboard cleaning putty does the trick well.

Oh and as Mothhawk says, never take the likes of the spacebar off - on notebooks in particular they can be almost impossible to get back on without the right assembly tool.

        Well spotted Jay!!
        Thanks
        Worth trying for sure!

I also quite like the idea of 'popping off' the buttons...I'm not likely to snap anything am I if I just stick to the square ones am I?

Air and putties are for whimps, when it comes to removing dried on sausage and mash or ice cream, button popping is the only way. New keyboards are silly cheap for what they are so i change mine quite often.
It is the sides of the keys that are hard to clean because as you try to clean them they sink, holding a knife blade gently under each key (power off of course) and then using a wet wipe works pretty well.

I can't get on with laptops. Proper computer keyboards respond well to being turned upside down and banged firmly on the desk so that all the cr@p falls out. If I do it regularly they can last years under this treatment before giving up, at which point I can buy a new one for a few quid. Simples.

Turning it upside down and giving it a whack?
Well...that's more my style I have to admit!

I'm just very wary of damaging it as new keyboards out here are Azerty rather than qwerty and very hard to get on with!

                    That's certainly an idea Snadge!
Is vacuuming with full suction of a normal vac going to cause probs?...and then give it a darn good shake going to harm the keyboard?
(I'm thinking of doing this before resorting to buying things)

Turn it upside down Nic, give it a shake and a few "Taps" then run between the keys with a damp Q tip.

My overactive brain cell has come up with:-

                          Blow a hairdryer on cool at the keyboard;

When clean, cover the keyboard with clingfilm,

Put the computer inside a big plastic bag with 2 holes cut in it for your hands. Attach a pair of rubber gloves to the holes like in a laboratory. You can keep your computer virus free as well as crumb free.

Rather than a hair dryer blowing cool, how about a leaf blower! remeber to tie the keyboard down.
