We do not do gifts, only buy a few small bits for my mum and dad and then the kids.
The OH and i are quite lucky we do not really feel the need for many things and the little things we want we will buy, so needless buying of loads of things that we do not need, same for birthdays, anniversaries. I feel it is so more meaningful (for us) if i see something he would like and come home and surprise randomly with it. I am not being told by someone i have to do it just when i want to. bah humbug

But saying that i would like a greenhouse
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

Same here, Lisa. There really is nothing that I want or need - and if I did, I'd buy it for myself, whenever I wanted it. Similarly, I'd rather give something to someone when they need it, than wait for one day of the year. So, its Bah Humbug here too.
PS I already have 4 greenhouses; another one would be ostentatious

I have asked my wife for a Swedish au pair gardener. I think I am going to get a shovel from Ikea.

I would like a greenhouse too or polytunnel. I think I'll keep looking on freecycle which is where I got my last one, 8x10. I do miss it, and my conservatory. I can't see my children being too impressed with me using my new kitchen as a potting shed.

I've asked for a sewing box/basket, whether the very obvious hint was taken I will find out next week.

my lottie neighbour has become one of my dearest friends over the last year.
We're both feeling the pinch and have agreed to spend very little or nothing on each other but I do want to show my appreciation for all the help she has given me.

So I am making her a plot marker.
I'm carving it with my husbands dremmel on a piece of reclaimed oak from an old broken cabinet.
So far I've done the plot number with an onion, bunch of carrots, some pea, strawberries and a snail. Working now on a sunflower across one corner ans daisies to fill the gaps. Then I'll paint and varnish it ready to go on the shed her husband is building for her.

I'm so pleased with it...it cost literally nothing but the price of the varnish and already is so pretty...just hope I get it finished in time!

We too don't do gifts having abandoned a life of stuff (books are NOT stuff!) when we came here, but please, please decent gardening gloves that last more than a few months.

I'd love to see your woodwork as well Muddled

Thank you all (and thanks VC for flipping the pic)

It was great fun to do and I'm enjoying finding what all all the myriad bits in the dremmel box are for. Someone somewhere really ought to write a book on that....my husband has a 400 piece multitool head set and between us we've figured out how to use about 3 of them

                                The mind boggles
