  • My ideal Xmas pressie....

Cos you've all been so good this year...

I thought it might be interesting to start a thread with suggestions of what you would hope for/asked for - gardening related- to give or receive this Xmas

It might give those of us without a clue of what to give our OHs too!!!

Personally, I'd like a bucket which has a handle which doesn't drop off easily!!!

    Over to you!

We have an agreement that we don't buy each other pressies but instead buy something for ones self instead so I may treat myself to one of these babies:

Compost. Honestly I have asked for some bags of compost. Its something I will use and is useful. Saves OH wasting money on something that I wouldn't use or wear.

I asked if the kids could club together and get me a half builders bag of gravel - you can guess how that went down can't you.

A new water fountain. The old one is a wooden half barrel with a pump in, but the wood has rotted so I would like a replacemrnt.

At this moment, I really don't know what I want. I really hate giving presents just for the sake of it and try to make meaningful gifts. Likewise, if asked, I try to make it something I need, would like, or would use. My better half thinks on a similar plane and if we don't haveanything which fits into the above categories, we give each other what we call a letter of intent. That is, confirmation that when we think of something, the other will provide it. The letter of intent is always done as a poem (she's better at that than me) and is always honoured.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^Hope you have somewhere to tie it down. I have one I use for model boat building and cutting anything above a 1/4" thick at high revs don't half make it dance.

Having said that once I got use to it and that took some time, it worked very well. I now have guides I can clamp to the bed for straight cuts and have just got the hang of using French curves for the twirly bits.

What do I want for Christmas, several things actually (1) a visit from my granddaughter, the company of my wife and ................................a nice bottle of port to go with my mature blue stilton.

More than anything I would like a crab apple tree also a witch hazel, I have a witch hazel with red flowers but I'd love one with yellow flowers, also a lilac tree that flowers, I have a lilac tree, had it for years but I think it will still be a few more years before it flowers.

I'd also love to be offered my old job back writing kids stories for our local paper, don't think that's going to happen but you never know!

Thanks for the advice Potty, I noticed it has 3 anchor points. I have several options available so it will be no problem.
