  • Such an oddly mild evening!

I can't beleive how mild it is outside tonight so I've spent the evening planting up my christmas gifts for my Mum, MIL, and both Nannys.
I've been outside with just a light jacket and even then I wasn't cold!

We aren't doing gifts really this year as money is tight but I thought it'd be nice to plant up some bulbs for them as a spring planter

Just checked the temp here and its 15deg at 11.0'clock at night on Dec 16th. Definitely something amiss with the weather.

It's really mild and calm here tonight too. I walked back from the pub hardly needing a jacket. Mind you after all that beer it's hard to be certain...

We're just back from a few days in Madrid and even late in the evening it was shirt-sleeve weather. Surprising but very nice.

No sub-zero temperatures predicted here any time soon, with just a solitary 0*C predicted for January 29th.

Anybody got a February forecast, or is it all too unreliable to predict?

Well I find it depressing. I love the seasons in their place and particularly winter. I love crisp, cold frosty, snowy days. We have had humid, wet, windy weather right through most of the growing season and it hasn't changed. Our front door is now so swollen that it takes two people to open/close as its wooden. The poor old hedgehog was wandering around the garden in the day probably come out of hibernation. The pests in the garden will be nicely preserved to wreck even more havoc on my veg (flea beetle in particular) a good freeze would have at least give them a set back. This is why my pests have been terrible the last couple of years. And the next person who says "we are going to have a real harsh winter this year" I'll...................

Well I think we will have really harsh "late winter" Stands to reason if you think about it, every other season this year has been late getting going, consistency that what we like right ho as it's lovely here (mild & sunny) I'm off to coppice a hazel tree, partly for bean & pea sticks but mainly to annoy the squirrel who plants the nuts in my lawn
He who smiles in the face of adversity, has already decided who to blame

Winter traditionally hits hardest in Feb so let's just wait and see what happens
