Or if it doesn't, just press the PrtScr key and then open up the program 'Paint'. Once Paint is up on screen, click the Paste button at top left. Then File and 'Save As' to save it on your local drive.

The way I do it (in Windows XP) is first click on the Alt button and hold it down and click on Print Screen as well. That copies the screen contents to your computer's clipboard. It doesn't look as if it's done anything but it's there.
Then I find the "Paint" programme by clicking on Start, hovering over "All Programs", then finding "Accessories" in the list that pops up and hovering over that, then finding Paint in the next list and clicking on it to open it. When the Paint window opens I click Edit and Paste.
That pastes in the image from your screen, which you can crop or edit to how you want it. It's a bitmap file which is very big. You can save it like that,, or you can save it as a more usual and smaller jpeg or png (or other kinds) by doing File Save as... then give it a name, and where it says "Save as type" you can click the little down pointing arrow and get a list of different types of files to save it as.
If that's not clear or doesn't work come back and ask again. If you don't have XP it might be a bit different.Last edited by Zelenina; 17-12-2015, 09:34 PM.

Nice one Coops, never knew that. It's a lot easier than messing about with PrtSc & Paint.Last edited by Bigmallly; 18-12-2015, 12:22 AM.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

Can't speak for earlier versions but on Windows 10 hitting the windows key and print screen key together puts the capture straight into a file in your photos folder. I use the snipping tool too, especially useful on sites that restrict copying.Location ... Nottingham
