Hiya Potty, scrollsaw arrive & am really pleased with it, it's bolted down & I've cut my first pattern which turned out great. My question is, when cutting internal patterns, do you have to keep taking the side cover off the machine every time you re-position the blade into another pilot hole? I'm half tempted to leave the cover off as it's a bit of a faff taking it on & off every time. Can you see any issues if I do leave the side cover off. Instruction say I need to remove the cover to access the bottom clamp for the blade. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to report but the answer is yes, like you I soon worked out the side cover is really an unnecessary bit. Come to think of it I don't know .............................where it is to be honest....Potty by name Potty by nature.

Potty, just wondered how you get the most out of your blades? i.e the top half of the blade never gets used, I read a great tip in an article if you're interested.Last edited by Bigmallly; 25-12-2015, 11:10 AM.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

BM I haven't really thought about maximising blade use, they are reasonably cheap and in my position the tax man pays for them anyway...................
Hope he don't read this thread.....Potty by name Potty by nature.

Well, just in case the day comes when you have to pay for them yourself, the simple yet effective solution is to make another bed out of 18mm board which you can slot on top of your existing bed then when the bottom teeth have had enough, place the new bed on top of your existing bed thereby allowing you to use the top half of the blade...............Hope that makes sense.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

I've often wondered what would happen if you just turned the blade upside down.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”
