I haven't really got a sweet tooth but I had Christmas pudding with lots of brandy sauce and I had much more wine than was sensible! I didn't feel too good yesterday morning so I didn't touch a drop yesterday but my wine is already chilling in the fridge for later.

Christmas was quite subdued this year for various reasons and none of us particularly over indulged this year - which has left us with huge amounts of chocolate and snacks and a cupboard full of booze.
I rarely drink these days anyway, but other than a glass of vino with dinner, I don't think OH has even been tempted by her usual downfall tipple - Glayva.

      Pumpkin pi.

No you definitely can't just throw away gifts from friends and family, as you say, it's wasteful and to be honest a bit disrespectful to the giver. However, am sure you can find a willing recipient for chocolate, most people won't turn down a bit of free chocolate

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Yes, get some friends around for coffe and chocolate later on next month. Don't regift them though, I find that quite hurtful a friend of mine often gives away gifts that she has been given and I really don't like that. I received a lovely present from her and found her daughters signature indented on the back, that was upsetting.

Being diabetic makes over indulgence dangerous for me, but two days a year (Christmas and birthday) I ignore the rules and eat what I damn well want. Funny thing is my desire to pig out has reduced over the years any way, particularly drinking alcohol. I had a couple of glasses of home made elderberry this year which was absolutely stunning. My family know not to buy me chocolates but they are all around the house and hard to resist. Most people think diabetics have to avoid sugar but it is not that simple carbohydrates rapidly digest into sugar so bread, pastries etc all have to be controlled.

Hmm. Over indulged yes. But I still felt within the limits of what the body could achieve...

We've made the trip over to Ireland to be with my better half's family this festive season.

The hospitality has been fantastic - food, drink and lots of craic !!!

My young lad had a sleep-over at his cousin's house last night, enabling me to post this whilst still lying in my kip drinking coffee.
Looking forward to a nice quiet day today though.

Are you in Malahide again Kevin?

Yeh, we're based in Malahide (my partner's mother's house) - however, been visiting various family members who live in the surrounding areas over the last week. (Donabate, Swords, etc.)

It's been great fun, especially for my little lad - who has been having a great time playing with his cousins and friend's kids.

We are seriously considering making the move over here permanent in 2016 - although the house prices in Malahide will probably rule that out as a possible location.

Yes, Malahide is a pricy area all right but there are nice places in the surrounding areas, especially if you are prepared to move up the coast a bit.
There is also new houses being built in Balgriffin, which is about two miles from Malahide.
Enjoy the rest of your holidays,

I've had lots of chocolate gifted to me this year and had some of them for the first time this afternoon. I'll be taking them into the staff room at work so everyone can help themselves before the diets start in January
