Just wanted to ask, when do we/you return to normality?
I know there are peeps on here who work throughout the Christmas season.
Then, there are others who don't celebrate the season at all.
So, is it the date on the calander, is it the return date to work, or is it the date for planting your first seeds of the year.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Like Flo, I'm not "normal" - but you knew that anyway
I like January 1st, as that's the start of a new year and who knows what surprises and delights await me

Back to work Monday 4th with the decorations coming down 12th night.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Half my 'decorations ' and I use that word loosely , will be taken down tomorrow. Cards will be in the recycle bin. Lights packed away. Tree can stay till 12th night, it's not real.
I don't have to go back to work until Friday, but I bet I'm in there on Tuesday for a nice break and catch up.

I suppose for us its the 12th night when the decorations come down but for me its really 2nd Jan when things start to feel normal again (whatever normal is!) and Christmas starts to recede

Finding it surprising how many people take their decorations down so early but I'm also always surprised how early some people put them up. Wouldn't feel right taking them down before 12th night but I don't like putting them up before the weekend before Christmas so they're not really up for long.

I've been off work since 6th November and don't think I can properly consider things back to normal until I'm allowed back. Really hoping that should be second week of January.

What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?

My husband works nights and has worked all over the holiday season.
His first night off will be this Wednesday so I will leave the decs and tree up til then so we can spend at least one evening together curled up on the sofa eating quality street and watching a naff christmas movie under twinkly lights and tinsel!

Straight after that though, it all comes down!
I like a cleaning blitz and touch of paint on the woodwork so the house feels fresh and lovely on January 1st....ready for the sowing frenzy to commence

I'm with Alison on putting up the tree/decs on the weekend before Christmas, and taking them down 12th Night.

Back to work 'properly' for this desk jockey will be on the 4th (although I will be behind the desk to do a couple of half days this week).
