      • Having the 5yo say, "wow these beans are really getting going now..."

Standing by the hedge at the back of the plot and seeing it alive with bees and hoverflies feeding on the 'weeds' I allow to flourish there.

          • We signed up to our half plot with my five year old and two year old in mind, as my middle daughter really enjoyed the outside and growing from her nursery the summer previous.

All the hard work since April making the site in to an actual producing working plot, getting the poly and shed, the hours we have all spent at the allotment together as a family are what makes me happy.......

Putting up the bird box for the kids and a pair of blue tits nesting in it within 2 weeks and pointing them out to the kids was priceless. Each visit the children charting their raising of their chicks and their many food runs couldn't be replaced with any app or electronic game or cartoon.

My daughter pulling carrots up and the look of achievement on her little face as she pointed out they were the ones she planted a few months prior (5 years old), my youngest boys shouts of 'I dig hole daddy' before being copiously covered in dirt and mud from head to toe, and even my 13 year old daughter telling me 'I love coming to the allotment with you dad' are what makes me happy and gives memories that will not fade with time. Been a great year so far!

My family went to Grumps' and whilst Grumps, my Hubby, my oldest and me picked red currants my youngest was at the table quite happily shovelling them into her mouth looking very content. So 2 ice cream tubs ended as 1.5 tubs
