Hello! Just carved the chicken and the beef, now in freezer. About to make custard for the trifle for Outlaws before a bit more seed sowing now the rain has stopped. Enjoy your Saturday
Well, the weather forecast has certainly scuppered my plans for today ....
I was going to fill my car with the tubs and bags of garden 'rubbish' (weeds, big stones, roots etc etc ..) that I've dug out over the past week and have a tip trip. Then it was going to be back to digging and refilling said tubs/bags with more rubbish
....
Plan 'B' then: transplanting some of my chilli seedlings and sowing some more seeds that came with yesterday's GYO mag (May)
Great! Managed plan A and some of plan B after all!!
Only bit I didn't do was seed sowing .. ran out of time/steam!!
Turned out to be a lovely, sunny afternoon

Evening all. Haven't done much over the past few days. Still have the major lurgies So on line catching up a bit before I have yet another early night.
Have a good evening everyone
The lurgies really need to do a running jump don't they! Everyone who is ill, get well soon.
Sat in sun today and got sunburn This happens to me a lot so I should know by now to put hat on or sun cream even this early in year. Frogspawn still intact thankfully. I am crossing fingers.
OH has nearly painted all the wood for raised beds so hope we can get one made soon. Am currently reading about how to crop rotate with 3 beds and getting more confused each book I read. I don't want potatoes so I hope that helps.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

My take on crop rotations is simple...........don't sucessionally grow the same crops in the same soil.........which is good really as I have over 120 squares in my SFG..............If I followed the rules, the men in white coats would be coming to take me away..........

Evening everyone. Really excited. Managed to persuadeOH to make a slight detour(40 miles) on the way home from Coventry to pop into David Austin roses. Finally ordered the roses I have been wanting for the last year. Have 4 royal William 4 warm wishes and 1 red velvet on order as bare root plants. Hopefully arriving next week. I have been drooling over these roses for the last 2 years. Will post pics when the come into flower
Dogs have masters, cats have slaves, and horses are just wonderful
Oi Hazel, it's been a while (you don't wanna know) but I got the string tied on, where's this gonna lead you gal ? ...............
Sorry , BB - I turned in (relatively!) early as I had a HM practice run planned in the morning - shame, on two counts (a) that is an excellent starting point and (b) I didn't end up doing the long run anyway.
I'll have to defer to next weekend, as the run is now tomorrow.....
Thanks BM, I like your simple advice on crop rotation. Better to keep it simple I think. If it's too complicated, I'll never get on with it
Awake early this morning. Meant to be hot today? Seeing as I got sunburn yesterday, better make sure I cover up today. Hope everyone enjoys rest of weekend.

Looks like another nice day, but I must do a bit of domestic stuff first, before heading off to
Plot again!
Now I'm looking at Plot and wondering where I'm going to plant everything! Somethings do take up a lot of space! But every year it's not the same, and always works out!
I must be on another planet from you lot...no sun here. Grey sky here, looks like it's going to rain.
I spent all day in bed yesterday sleeping. I wernt feeling to good. I feel a lot better today.
I need to start moving things in the bedroom, we have just ordered a new superking size bed. A lot bigger then just a double bed we already have. OH wanted a bigger bed because apparently I take the whole bed up and leave him just a small space to sleep. :/
