Evening all! Did I tell you about my silver clay course? Well, I didn't have a clue what it was until today I went with a friend to make pendants, the course included 20g of silver clay, there wasn't much time to spend on the actual design itself as we had to fire the clay for an hour and also go through the sanding down, polishing and burnishing it. All in all a very enjoyable day....think this will make a great hobby. Fortunately I have another friend that has a kiln so I may try out a few more interesting pieces at home.

Great day in the garden today. After planting half the spuds, the rhubarb got moved to alongside the blackberry bush. A much better place, more sun.
That leaves the big raised bed with nothing in it. This then started the discussion that I would like to bring it back to a normal flower bed. This will involve removing a lot if earth, but will make it easier to replace the fence behind it, which is in a terrible state.
So, that is hubby's summer project...... Please remember that I still have a reduced price BQ greenhouse still in its box, 3 years old, in the garage.
I don't hold out much hope lol

Visited big son and future DIL in their new home, settling in nicely, although my big, beautiful Labrador was a bit confused .......
Sun out, so was spade and fork and rake ... Found a few rogue roots, weeds, soon dispatched. Just ran out of steam, again with the thought of work looming again tomorrow .....

The silver pendants look beautiful. You clearly have a knack for that. They would make lovely gifts.

Morning all.

Really in the throes of attending to problems at new house. Bathroom is a disaster area. Bath beyond redemption unless we get it re-enameled. Toilet pan chipped. Sink chipped. Looking like a complete new suite.

No major problems with heating although there is a fuel leak beside the boiler which is presently causing an unpleasant smell in the house. A wooden fence to contain the previous owners dogs erected immeiately adjacent to exhaust flue. Fence to be re-aligned. Leak beside the tank. Plastic cap at top of tank broken, covered with gaffer tape which has degraded so there is a hole. New cap needed. Minor stuff but all takes time. Really annoying that an old duvet or similar has been dumped beside the fuel tank and is sodden. Probably thrown in there to absorb leaking fuel.

Been busy at new house. Minging carpets lifted and disposed of and skirting boards removed ready for rewire. Rubbish removed from loft and that has been readied for chipboard flooring which I hope to collect tomorrow.

Wall paper stripped from two walls in lounge and the other two have windows so less work needed on them.

Interesting concept in the kitchen. Chimney style cooker hood. Better half couldn't get it to work. My brother who is a sparkie discovered that an unmarked fused switch controlled the power supply and the fuse was blown. By that time, he had removed the cowling to try to find the power supply wire and just as well. Although the power was connected, the exhaust ducting had not been connected indeed the necessary hole in the ceiling had not even been cut out. Why do people do that sort of thing?

had a disaster with a radiator and ended up having to take it off the wall to tighten everything up.

Growing will be when I can spring myself some moments to relax but as things stand at the moment, house is taking priority. Thankfully I managed to get the old house in to order before we got the new one so as soon as the new one is liveable, we can get the old un on the market. No pressure eh?!

VC, it's a 2 bed detached bungalow which up here are as scarce as hen's teeth. AT our age, we are looking to a future without stairs(except the loft ladder) and having bad experience here with awful neighbours, the detached bit is brilliant too. I don't mind a bit of work to knock it into shape, the price reflected the necessary work, but as you may have gathered, the naughty bits grate. Things like the property being advertised with new flooring in the vestibule and that flooring being removed. Lawyer will be on that job.
Mounds of dog muck in the garden. At least I think it was the dogs!!!!
