  • Morning all...

Cold but dry here....Got out for a 5k run last night in my continued efforts to get some exercise and hopefully do another at lunch time today....
    Enjoy the day!
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

    • Chilly, but bright here.
Off to A@da for some serious food shopping, oh joy
Extra shift at the charity shop later, our 93 year old's not feeling it. Bless her
Did look at seed pots yesterday, omg, it's getting closer.
If I buy them now, how/where do I store them?
      Have a great day folks

      • Good morning all. Very cold this morning. I was up at 7.30 and nearly died with the shock. Haven't been up so early in the winter in the last few years. Blood test at 8'0clock. Home now and had a nice fry-up.
Sun is shining now but its still very cold.
        Have a good day all.

NS,get the seed potatoes whilst they are there, they will be fine in a light cool place, they don't have to be in egg boxes, anything with a bit of a side on it,like the old meat dish,is fine, mine go side by side bottoms down,if you got any stacking trays,1 on top of the other, saves on space,

          • Morning all. Well Han got up with a headache but I'm not surprised with the lump on her head. Looks as if we have had some snow during the night but seems to be going now. The weather peeps have said we will be getting some snow showers passing over us today.
Don't know what to do today. Will see what OH wants to do as he is on day off.
            Have a good day everyone

                    • Anyone on a diet? Freecycle has something you need

Free A*** value bathroom scales, they work OK but are -10lbs out (according to my other scales). However, they do show accurate weight loss which is what I was using them for.

Must have been an awful shock when they stepped on their other scales and found they'd put on 10lbs.

Luvly sunshiny day here. Not very warm but its hot enough to lurk in the GH
                      Enjoy your days

No chance of a rainbow here as it is a lovely cold clear sunny day, going out to saw some wood for my stove, before picking up four grandsons. Hang on BM and I will come and help you look for that pot of gold(that will take longer than finding a rainbow) not that I am trying dodge minding the grandkids.
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                        • Afternoon all, anyone any experience of integrated smoke alarms? We have two, one of which, when we tested it, is beeping very quietly...so quiet you can only just about hear it when standing underneath. Has anyone any idea what could be wrong with it? It is integrated into the electrics in the house but has back up batteries which I have renewed with no difference. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that LD, so I could store them in my cold porch, which is very light.
Is the idea to keep them cold or will they chit anyway?
                            Thanks

                            • they will start to chit,NS but slowly,as we all know the ones heaped up in the dark, grow long white shoots,
I wonder if the reason they are sold so early in the year is,they cannot be prevented from chitting, and if the suppliers left them longer, they to would have the long white chits,SO by getting in at the begining,is a benefit all round,as putting them to chit seems to slow the process down, also keeping them from sweating in a bag and thus making them want to grow so then spoiling the seed,
when i got mine the other day, some had indeed got white shoots on,and others were just starting, those ones did feel a bit damp, see everything seems ready set for spring when it ain't

as long as they are frost free, and not in a pile, they be fine,

                              • Really chilly up here today. Ispent the best part of the daylight hours at my sons in his garage fitting and wiring up a towbar on my motor.

Chuffed to get it done where we were protected from the weather.
