Morning everyone, hope you are all ok.
We are going to get a tad windy here today, we take all precautions with our fences, but our neighbours are a different matter. We arranged and paid half towards 2 new fence panels last year, but the whole lit needs replacing. Will report on that one later.
Whilst on the weather subject, I had to get my hubby to take the 93 year old volunteer home on Saturday and asked him to take her right up to door. She was in danger of being knocked over. She is so frail, bless her. But full of life.
Hope she doesn't venture out today
The chocolate fudge cake I made last night has sunk Grrr
Anyway, enough rambling, have a lovely day and keep safe
Morning all,
Very windy here as well, and cold and cloudy indoor day today me thinks.
Hope you all got some well deserved sleep, the wind kept waking me up along with nightmares, don't know what up with me lately.
Have a wonderful day and keep safe x
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them
The good news for us is that the 3 double trunked Himalayan birch saplings we planted out a couple of weeks ago are standing up to the strong winds.
We put in deep steaks but were surprised when we collected them how shallow their root system is- they seem to spread out like raspberry roots do ( but bigger of course!).
Not sure how they will cope with the winds when they are bigger
Just have to wait and see and enjoy them whilst they are there!
We planted them fairly close together so hopefully they'll protect each other a bit????
"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
Morning All. Very wild and windy last night - and same again today
Maybe we should postpone our bus trip until the wind drops. Speaking of which, old Aunty Mary is lying at my feet, doing her most realistic impression of a motorbike backfiring. Maybe I should make her breakfast!
New readers - please note, Old Aunty Mary is not a blood relative but a dog
Stay safe everyone, especially those who have to travel.

Birch are shallow rooted. I've seen them in the local woods, after a storm, lying on their sides, with very little root ball. never seems sufficient to support a tall tree.
Morning all. Very wet and soggy here. Had a load of rain last night and it bounced down when I was taking the kids to school. I have dried out a bit now.
Going to plant some seeds again a bit. Think I might have a go and start some of my free seeds from the mag off.
Have a good day everyone
It was wild and windy here too, same as everywhere I guess. It's probably blown my netting around at the allotment, I'll have to see if I can pop down there at some point.
Busy day today - got to go into town and get some Euros, off to Malta for a few days tomorrow. I'll probably find time to start some pepper seeds though, maybe they'll germinate while I'm away.
Enjoy your day, y'all!
