    oooh, sounds good!

I mashed the spent fruit to a pulp, and ate it on toast, in rice pudding etc.
    minus the cinnamon stick!

scarlet could you not just mix a pot of bramble jam and a bottle of vodka then strain it, it might not be quite the same, but it cuts down the time and you could spread the solids on a piece (slice of bread)
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

..it's the last of the rhubarb vodka, so technically one of my 5 a day!
Ha! Not sure on the '1 of 5 a day', Cptn, but a little snifter of what you like is always good. As you say, belt tightening/robust walking is on the agenda soon enough!

I am now away to go through the Vine. Goodnight
Best wishes to your friend, Rary - when you've known peeps for half a century you think that they and you are invincible, so it's a shock when we find that they are not. Just have to plod on, and make the most of it, I think.

Hope you two have a great time today....let us know what varieties of spuds you get will you?( if you do!)

Not quite sure what I'll be up to today....have to say, I quite enjoyed having a lazy day yesterday.....I'm sure I could cope with another one!
I should at least do a bit of gardening as it looks like it might be dryer than was originally forecast.
Anyone for a brew ? .....I'm just putting the kettle on so speak up!

                      • Sorry I haven't been on here for quite some time. A friend of mine passed away a few days before Christmas and it was difficult.

I wasn't in the right frame of mind for being social. I tried logging in during January but our internet was playing up so that didn't work out and then I got myself into a rather ridiculous self pity mode thinking no one would be bothered anyway. Unfortunately the bad news has kept on rolling into this year so I'm having a lot of up and down days and don't feel my normal cheery self as much as I'd like to.

My garden is a total mess and has been neglected. Making a start on that should probably be therapeutic - at least Monty Don thinks so! Focusing on getting back to doing some gardening will be a good idea. I'm sure the vine will inspire me.

                        Thanks BigMally for contacting me.

Sorry to hear Rary's news too.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.
