    • Pancakes were banned in this house last year as son no1 made me feel ill. His were sprinkled with sugar, chocolate sauce, bananas, golden syrup(lots of) with double cream on top. I'm only going to make them if he promises to just have two reasonable sized toppings...

I use half white/half brown (or wholemeal); a tbsp of oil; tbsp of honey; teaspoon salt, teaspoon yeast, and a couple of oz of mixed seeds (which I get in big bags from the wholefood shop.

          • Pancakes with lemon and sugar; or syrup. We take turns in cooking the pancakes - and scoff them hot out the pan!

            • Morning all. Had a frost last night which was a bit of a shock when taking the OH this morning. The mornings are getting lighter now .
Need to stop in today as my dad is at hospital seeing his specialist. Hopefully his white blood cells are behaving themselves.
Didn't get seeds sorted yesterday so its one of my must jobs today.
              Have a good day everyone

              • Mmm yes loads of grated cheese (Red Leicester optimal) which starts to melt with the hot pancake and then plenty of sticky golden syrup poured over the top. A lovely combo. Very fattening but oh well!
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

                  • I stand at the cooker since I'm the only one who can make half decent pancakes. I make everyone else's first before I can cook and eat my own - waiting to eat my own is really tough but it's well worth waiting for I'm getting hungry thinking about it.

We eat them besides pancake day but not too often because I like that they are still seen as special.

The rhubarb orange and ginger jam sounds a good one @Bren. I love ginger and orange anyway. Whether that would go with cheese or not is the question. I'm a total cheese fiend.
