  • Good morning Grapeys.
Its all happening here! The treemen are back in the garden. They're lowering next door's giant conifers and dropping them into my garden, to be chopped and shredded. I'll keep all the logs and wood chip and, most importantly, I''ll have lots more light in the garden and house. Feeling very excited and happy at the moment.
Its all sunshiny too happy, happy, happy

Hope you all have a happy, happy day too

    • Good morning all and its another sunny morning. Off to the farmers market this morning to stock on some fresh fruit and veg and after that we will see.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

      • Back from town, had to sit and wait as the supermarket opened!!! home for the day now, may have to re sow some tomato seeds as a few have not come up and i really wanted to try them but it has ben nearly 2 weeks, but if i do i bet they then pop up their heads. Same with some of my sweet peppers, none of some of them came up and its been well over a month. I guess it gives me something to do
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

        • Morning all, thought it was going to be a bright day, then it rained.
Breadmaker is on, making a loaf for sandwiches at lunchtime and toast for the morning.
Anyone got a recipe that makes it last a tad longer?
Seed tins will be out in the next few days. Carrots are already out of date, will see how many more I expect.
I have nearly all the free seed packets given free in the magazine, can I put these into your seed swap VC?
          Have a great day all

          • Good morning Folks, a nice bright DRY day today took my daughters dog a walk and collected some wood for my fire, I have to collect mine it doesnt just fall into the garden cut up into logs (some folk have all the luck) switched off my router last night and had a good nights sleep, no complaints about snoring, or like the night before where I thought it was the rain that wakened me,but looking back through previous posts there was some chatter through the night, I wonder if it could be connected.
Lisa, the first time I was at Almeria was in the month of April and I remember that every night when going to bed the mountains were clear and every morning they had snow on them, they looked fantastic, well I wish you all a good day and hope you all have sunshine, if not actual, in your day. Hope to be back on later Good day
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

            • Morning all. Had a long lie as I was up a few times in the night with Alfie. No improvement as yet but keeping our fingers crossed!

It's a beautiful sun shiny day, long may it last! Window cleaners arrived earlier but because I have the dogs I keep the back gate locked just in case any of the kids in the street decide to pay a visit. I was in bed and thought ocht the back windows can wait until next time. The guys must have jumped the gate with their ladder as the windows have been cleaned...that's dedication for you! Only downside is that I have to clean the inside now!

Hope you all have a sun shiny day!

Some fell onto our lawn last year, it took us 2full days to cut it up into useable logs and burn the stuff that we wouldnt be able to burn indoors. Can't tell you how many trips we made with a wheel barrow.

Of course you can, NS. Always welcome
Sun's still shiny and the trees are edging downwards. Don't think they're going as low as I'd like but, every little helps

Rary, would you like a Log parcel? You pay P&P upfront of course

                    • All week we've been forecast a sunny day today. The reality? Showers first thing and now low grey cloud. The bedding I washed is hanging limply on the line, as wet as it was when I hung it out.

                      • NS....Any left over bread I have ( French bread may be delish but goes stale v v quickly!) I chop up into dice sized cubes and freeze.
A quick fry in hot oil with a sprinkling of salt/ chilli/ herbs and bobs yr auntie...instant croutons for soup!
Or freeze it more finely crumbled and sprinkle it on top of cauliflower cheese before it's final bake in the oven.
Or make bread and butter pudding?...any selection of flavours of fruit/ nuts/ chocolate
Or just freeze the 1/3 you know you won't be using now for another day.

                        • We have the same problem with fresh bread, it is delicious but only the 2 of us do not eat a whole stick, must say the ladies love a little as a treat now and again

My friend has just knocked of the door and has given me a lifetimes or 3..... supply of freshly cut bay leaves, lovely but what am i going to do with so many, they are now hanging from the ceiling drying.

Had the very front land all ploughed, so it is now ready to plant potatoes they are chitted and awaiting.

Back in the land of paid work today...
....which has got me thinking, time to book my summer holidays
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

                            • Evening all. Sun was out today and that makes a huge difference Been out for a very long walk, legs are tired in a good way and going to plonk myself in a nice warm bubbly bath.

Last time I had a bath I used one of those bath bomb things I got at Christmas. I was "told off" by hubby as, although I rinsed the bath out, it left a very oily residue and he slipped over. Luckily didn't hurt himself but he was not amused. Will stick to my normal bubbles I think.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.
