  • Sounds the same as your cat Bod, Nicos...it's disgusting but the lump has reduced massively. Looks sore so perhaps that's what's making Alfie miserable.

Will try the sardines as I don't have raw meat. I don't mind sardines...just not for breakfast Scarlet!

Have already tried chicken Lisa, no luck.

    Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I've had sardines today for lunch, tinned ones in tomato sauce on toast

        • Arggggggg..................i was just weeding around a unused bed getting it ready to be used, the weeds had really got out of hand and over a meter tall in some areas......well i disturbed a massive snake, i knew one lived around there but thought it would have moved with me making so much noise. He or she is was over a meter long. I love snakes and all creatures but i do not fancy getting bit by one so i am keeping away for the rest of the day.

Good luck at the vets Jay x

It's over 5ft long Twice its escaped when I had a good friend come to stay who is petrified of snakes!! I'm sure she thinks we do it on purpose

            • Evening all
It's been a lovely day here, unfortunately I had to work so couldn't play outside. Managed to get my chickens & turkeys cleaned out when I got home. When I get home from work tomorrow hopefully my delivery of compost will be waiting for me. So I can plant more seeds.
What sort of snake was it Lisa? I love snakes. We only have adders on the island.

I have no idea but there is 13 types of snakes here and 5 are venomous , a old friend got a nasty bite and was laid up for almost 2 weeks, his own fault did not go to the doctors. We have nasty spiders as well, i would always pick them up in the UK and let me out but not out here.

What do you keep your turkeys for? eggs...meat. What is a turkey egg like?

                • Evening all. It has been a mentally busy day at work, we didn't know some of the schools were off when our local ones aren't. It's been as busy as a typical weekend when we usually have 5-6 staff on... there was me and one other. I'm having a well deserved cocktail whilst OITC makes tea. Back in at 8 tomorrow too

                  Hope everyone is well.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

                            • Was just thinking about your poorly Alfie Jay.
When my sisters dog was poorly she gave her eggy bread, scrambled eggs, tuna, cous cous with tuna or scrambled eggs mixed in.
Have you tried beef bullion? You can buy it in supermarkets and make it up like a gravey. My sister used to just make some up but let the smell drift through the house to make her dog hungry and give her something else. Think it is quite salty so wouldn't actually give her dog any.
When my old moggie was poorly I gave her a mild cheese, which she loved, or some salmon.

                              • No they don't. That's why you don't see them in the shops much.....and they are bu@@ers to put to bed at night. I really loved keeping mine but it's no fun picking up a 40lb turkey and carrying it to bed.
