    • I found a large piece of sirloin in the freezer yesterday morning and thought the same VC. Cooked in the slow oven of the aga in red wine, garlic, onions, celery and carrots, & Rosemary. Cut the meat in big chunks. It should have lasted a few days, nowt left this morning! School holiday...they eat non stop!

        • VC, how do you make a stew when not putting any meat in there, i gave up anything like that years ago as could not get the same rich favour. I would love a stew with dumplings.

              • Lisa, cheat's version is to add a tin of baked beans to the veggies. Lentils are good too and cook quickly.
One of my favourite stews has big chunks of onions, carrots, chickpeas, tomatoes and dried apricots.

                      • The GGs brought a card and gift for me because they love me - how sweet is that? It's a little heart shaped frying pan. Guess there's an ulterior motive in that somehow
