Problem is Scarlet I really need glasses for reading...use magnifiers at the moment. Will persevere for a while (2 weeks the optician says) and then decide. You look as though you have something wrong with you trying to find the right spot for reading.

That's the problem I have when trying to do sugar craft...couldn't find the right spot. Ask him whether it's worth having a plain pair just for reading as a hobby rather than for a few minutes. I can't see anything else when I look up with the glasses on while doing the sugar stuff but I find them brilliant and my eyes dont ache afterwards. I use the varifocals the rest of the time/shopping/driving walking about etc

I wear distance glasses for the TV and driving and pound shop ones for crafting.
I can quite often be seen sewing away wearing the distance ones perched above the close up ones which I have to perch on the tip of my nozzle!
I keep thinking about varifocals .
I did try contacts ( one near , one far) but couldn't get on with them at the time. Might try again soon though.
Let us know how you get on with your glasses Jay...."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

I didn't get on with bi focals, so last year admitted defeat and got distance and reading glasses.
Well, I was so used to putting my bi focals on my head when reading or eating, that's exactly what I do with the distance ones. The reading glasses rarely come out.
I am reading the vine minus glasses ....Nannys make memories

Morning Grapeworld!
Funny old day - that's the weather, nothing much to laugh at here unless I look in the mirror
This sloping ceiling lark - friends put sliding doors all the way across one of the sloping sides to square off the room. You could get lost in the space behind them it was like a priest's hidey hole!
There were hanging rails behind the doors for clothes, and behind those chests of drawers. I think one bit had a desk so you slid the door back and could sit at your desk. Some doors were mirrored so the room looked larger.
Just a thought. Right, I'm off to talk to my courgettes, Have a good day

Afternoon, folks.
I'm in the one contact lens for distance, one for reading camp at the mo - it is not ideal, but suspect that they just need a tweak. I certainly couldn't thread a needle with my lenses in, but can read and do the crossword, but struggle in dim light.
Spring has definitely sprung here! Not only are BB's sweet peas sprouting (and the broad beans), but the most reliable indicator of all - Domino cat has declared that it is the start of the bench-sitting season.

Afternoon! Just completed 6 and a half (yes, don't forget the half ..!) hours digging ... Yowch, my back is protesting! Don't sit down yet girl, (might not get back up again ...) got tea to cook, think it's going to be a quick spag bol that we didn't have last night.
Then a nice, hot, bubbly bath awaits!!
BTW, Scarlet, don't know if it's too early to tell, but my tom plants that I left so cruelly in GH last night, SEEM to be holding their own .....~~~ Gardening is medicine that does not need

Enjoy your day everyone...AP, good luck for tomorrow! (Just in case I forget to say)
I'm always getting laughed at because I take my glasses(for distance) off when I need to read something. I saw someone refer to threading a needle. I used to sow on my own buttons, patch work clothes etc but cannot see the eye of a needle these days. Maybe I need glasses for close up ?

Get better soon, Florence. I've just come back from Doctors and have been given antibiotics because I haven't been able to shift an ongoing cough so hopefully that will finally do the trick
Weather has been really lovely. Nothing beats being able to sit in the sun. We've got some frogspawn in the garden so that is good news as well. Just hope neighbours cats don't eat it.LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.
