      • Our site fruit thief is back.

Taken all the ripe strawberries from INSIDE people's fruit cages
        bad enough you'd think...

Also picked all the green ones and chucked them on the floor

Last year the thief took every single gooseberry from every single plot and every single piece of tree fruit...so thats about eight cherry trees and several plum and apple trees (including mine)

I think its a professional operation....there is far more than one family could carry or use.

        • FOOTBALL AGAIN!!!!!!

And we've got the Olympics again this year!

I can see the T.V. going out the window before the end of Summer.(and certain relatives following it)

We'd be a lot healthier nation if people actually participated in sport rather than sitting watching it usually with fast food and booze!!!

          • Bring on the Morris Dancing that's what I say..............

            anyhow my rant

after loads of rain this afternoon and the rain that is still coming down the slugs and snails are EVERYWHERE despite slugatoads, copper wire, woolly stuff, hog friendly pellets blah blah blah.

I used to throw them into next door but one fo the hedgehogs (50/50 chance of survival) but now I have sacrificed my black stuff and they are going happily towards the slug and snail version of the rainbow bridge.

            • Whyis it that 'slackers' who work for a big company get massive severance/redundancy payments because they want rid of them.
Yet others like myself, who have given years of loyal service, never taken a days sick leave, do an ecellent job and would like an early reirement, get an email saying its not in the companies best interests to let them go at this time!

              It just boils my pee!

I could retire with nowt, but why should I when there are literally hundreds of arseholes getting bumper payoffs?

Don't do too good a job folks, be a slacker if you want a large payoff.

              Rant over!

              • I made the mistake in telling the people on my neighbouring plot that I was giving it up in September.

Somebody has been in the shed and helped themselves to my unopened pack of 50m debris netting, 6 packs of 10m chicken wire fencing, large mallet, saw, etc.

They kindly put the 2 bricks back that are propped up against the shed door to keep it closed after they had helped themselves.

BTW - next plot's new fruit cage looks stunning.

                • I normally try and avoid this thread - so posting 2 rants in a row must mean I'm becoming bitter and twisted lately (I'm sorry)

Anyway, after accepting an extremely extortionate quote from a roofer to refelt the garage roof - I've come home to find the the invoice and the effer has lumped on vat to the job.

I accept this when having dealings and quotes commercially - but a domestic job ?

I was going to pay it earlier, but I think I might challenge him.

He must be raking it in when he's earning enough to be VAT registered.

hmm, are you sure that's not mice? They collect up the green ones to store for later.

If vat registered then vat has to be added, vat is a pain for those registered believe me.

Audi S3 TT Quattro Bosch Mass AIR Flow Sensor MAF 1 8L 1998 2002 | eBay

No choice in the matter either...it has suddenly gone
They did take it out and give it a good clean but it's corroded inside.

                            Hmmmph

Yes they do die, I'd be interested to know :-

How exactly did they try to clean it ?
Presuming that they actually tried to clean the hot wire, did they leave the element submerged in xylene (or similar chemical) to soften & release the burnt on dirt (approved method) or did they give it a good blast of compressed air (snaps the hot wire so the maf is now non functional)

What exactly is corroded inside ?

There is nothing visible inside the maf that corrodes, possibly the electrical terminals on the connector could, but that would only happen if the waterproof connector was improperly fitted even then they would be cleanable with a piece of wet & dry paper & some patience.

That aside, in your example you are paying a LOT of money for the tube the maf is mounted in, you can buy remanufactured items for a lot less money, for example .... Bosch MAF Mass Air Flow Sensor - Audi TT (8N9 8N3), A3 (8L1), S3, Quattro 98- | eBay ... they use an old body & fit a new sensor, which is a good idea (financially & economically) you could even go for remanufacturing your existing unit by undoing 2 screws pulling the maf out & fitting a nice new one for less than £30 ..... AUDI A3 S3 A6 RS6 TT 1.8 quattro SEAT LEON Mass Air Flow meter sensor 0280218065 | eBay .... cleaned & changed a few over the years, off roading tends to upset them a bit

                              EDIT :

Rant, garages that don't give customers information on ALL the available options

Not sure BB....he mentioned a very fine needle/ piece of wire ( I think)......maybe part of the hot wire system?...

Just hope they're not taking the proverbial....don't think so cos they've been very fair and realistic other other stuff over the years....
