Does having a degree make them a better police officer?

I've worked with people with degrees who were thick as pig do-dah's! Its just encouraging MORE pen-pushers on the force.

^^^^^^ Agree totally with Snadger.

Rant - the short news issue recently where nurses, who had to have a degree to train had not spent one day on the wards before qualifying. Shame on that programme.

Just watched the programme 'The Worlds Most Expensive Christmas'.

I understand that some are born with it and some work reaaly hard for it and some give huge amounts to charity but spending £250,000 on decorating your tree, that you may or not be there to see for 36 hours is wrong on so many levels as no end of charities could do both human and animal good with some of that cost............................so says a poor person.

Degrees must be crap these days.
They make you do an English and maths test before you can do a PGCE course. How can you get a degree without having a decent standard of English and maths?

As our ancient washing machine went off to meet its maker last weekend we went to the well known electrical store (named after Britains favourite Indian food) and ordered a new one plus a tumble dryer.

They were delivered just after 6 last night and the nice man fitted the washer......brilliant no leaks.
Went to put it on after they had gone and found out that if you can get the detergent draw open it is virtually impossible to get it closed again...............

Phoned the store line this morning (an 0344) number.......engineer due next Friday (the 23rd).

I then decided to risk using the machine - which is so quite and works like a dream to do some of the ever growing heap of washing........I have a dryer thought I so it won't have to be strewn all over the place trying to get it dry.

Dryer set up as per instructions - put washing in and grind, grind, whirr, whirr, grind.

On the phone again to the 0344 number where, according to the website their customer support agents are just waiting to answer my call.....................Huge heaps of stinky pig poo are they.

4 calls each lasting 5 and a half minutes and each time disconnected.

OH has now gone into Lincoln armed with the receipts model number and serial number of the dryer to see when an engineer can come out.....................

and breathe in.................breathe out.........calm thoughts......................

Thats strange because the appliance should be tested before they leave usually they show you,I just checked & they are supposed to do that-

I know they were running very late and he did put it on a quick wash to get out any leftover water but he didn't put liquid in. The washer itself works great but the plastic drawer really bends when you try and close it.

It's probably just a little adjustment needed they should check it all works properly opens & closes,its not very merry Christmas of them.

Mine does something similar if you don't align it properly on the inside when you put the drawer in,I take it out to clean it but I don't know it's a different machine best to ask the fitter back isn't it.

34 mins on a 0870 number to make a complaint about the dryer...................result is go to the store which is a 26 mile round trip and they will sort it out.

Bit peeved to find rubbish put in my domestic bins by other people. More peeved they can't even put stuff in the right bins.
