That's what I thought the foot pedal would do Bill.

I understand that but your talents lean toward the mechanical.
If you can make a device to feed fish in your tv tanks I think you could make something up.
If your saw has a plug and you plug it into an extension lead (The type with a strip of switched sockets)all you need is some way to operate the power to the extension. Hell you could do it with your little toe!

I'm beginning to think the machines switch/s are the issue. There isn't a definite click on off, mearly a push, the buttons don't stay in.

BB, did you see the tech spec for that pedal? I think they are used for guitars etc. Not sure it would be suitable for a scroll saw.

Technical Specification Maximum operating voltage: 30 V Maximum operating current: 0.2 A

Leave the switch in bud, identify the live feed from the switch to the motor, disconnect it from the switch & solder it to one of the tags on the jack socket, now solder a lead from the other jack socket tag back to the switch where you disconnected the original wire from.
That ^^ is the best description I can give without knowing what (if any) test gear you have, it may be the case that when the pedal is fitted you may need to reverse the wires on the tags.

The operation sequence will then be, push the original ON button, then press the pedal to operate, to stop either push the original STOP button or press the foot pedal again (to unlatch)

The foot switch I have is a latching type - tap to switch on, again to switch off. I wouldn't personally start tampering with switches on a new device since it invalidates the guarantee - but that's just me

Cheers Jon, I'm unsure of the type of switch on the saw as it it 2 separate buttons.
