    Mint...

    Hey Fruit&VegVirgin,

I'm embarrassed to say that I've managed to kill mint before. On two seperate occasions. Yes, mint. The same mint that is very very hard to kill. I was trying to give it some love and affection so it would grow big and strong in order that I could slice the plant to pieces to stick in potato salads/raita/tzatziki - that kinda thing. I think it got the vibe and died off in order to avoid the torture of a summer bar-b-q menu. Maybe.

I've not tried to grow it since, I'm sulking!

Sal, you've got me there.... how did you kill it with affection? I know someone who'd love to get rid of the mint taking over their garden, and it might be worth a try

I can't grow cabbage or brocolli, just doesn't happen for me, if it germinates, its gets eaten whereas my fennel just seeds everywhere as does my hardy geraniums.

          Minty Freshness

          Hey Shortie,

I put the mint in a medium sized pot of garden soil - taken from where I dug the mint up from - and put it on my coolish but bright windowsill (I didn't have a plot or a garden back then). I then watered it once every 3-4 days or when it was starting to dry out and after 6 months it got too big so I repotted it. To pay me back for the love and attention I had lavished on it the little beggar carked it!

Try willing you mint meadow to grow as big and strong as it likes while slicing knives and reading out loud recipies for mint sauce to it - slowly!
