  • GYO 10th Birthday

Because the mag is about to celebrate being 10 is there any chance of the Gardeners Rest opening for the birthday weekend so we can raise a glass to the mag that bought us all here?

OK VC I have the tanker on standby for you and a firkin barrel for Rary just in case...................

Nice idea Lumpy but since we purchased the freehold with have not applied for a licence yet. Not to mention all the building work that needs doing.

Don't think the elf and safety would allow it SP. Perhaps we could have a summer bbq on Mull?

Oh who needs a license when it would be a 'private' party for the Grape family.

As far as the building work is concerned maybe we could get everyone to do 'a bit' in return for the festivities.

            Oh ..................

I want to know, how come the GR needs major works done every year off late ,it would be far safer to have an open thread when the time comes,as am sure peeps do not want their drinks contaminated with builders bubble, also to dangerous,a BBQ sounds good, but where, think this might hang on a thread
sigpicAnother nutter ,wife, mother, nan and nanan, love my growing places, seed collection and sharing, also one of these

Great idea Greenleaves. You are all welcome to come for a bbq. But it will have to be bring two bottles. One alcohol, one midgie repellent

LD = I agree = the GR was 'perfectly' usable over C.......word so why is it in such bad disrepair now,,

OK the chimney fell down, the kitchen sunk and the bar has woodworm but that's the way it has always been............I won't mention the panto horse kicking the door but..............

Lisa - everyone gets lost in the GR. My advice would be to just go with the flow and add as much daftness as possible.

The GR is our virtual watering hole at "that time of year", a few years back it suffered some major structural damage and the previous owners wanted to knock it down and turn it into posh retirements flats. We the mods purchased the freehold in January but the the conditions of the purchase required extensive repairs be made.

What makes the GR so popular is the pure escapism it provides, and gives a home to AP and Rary during December.
