"Yesterday" on the radio this morning on the way to work nearly had me in floods of tears. After recent events never had the words held so much meaning.

When I got home from work this evening it was the first thing my 7 year old lad said to me. On his school news TV thingy it mentioned that the 5th Beatles had died, hence his eagerness to let me know.

TBH, I wasn't aware he was still alive, but.... still a bit gutted all the same.

On another non-gardening site I'm a member of there was/is a raging debate over not only GM's influence over the Beatles music, but him being the main man, more than Lennon and/or McCartney. I'll leave that for others to discuss.

Anyway, my parents had all their LPs, as well as many other around that time - I had a bit of a 'epiphany' moment in my teens when I started playing/listening to them. Never looked back since.

Sgt. Peppers will always be known for his 'influential' input - therefore, I'm off to search youtube for my fave track.

A day in the Life - Lennon's vocals, Ringo's drums, Martin's orchestral input (and grudgingly McCartney's nonsensical interlude bit).

FFS - whilst posting this, the BBC News have just copied my thoughts - makes me feel a bit of a sham.

It's so difficult to pick one Sgt Pepper's track:
