Just caught up with the news LD. So sorry to hear in the first place that Mr LD had a stroke but very glad to hear he's progressing towards recovery and that you are both ok in yourselves and even chipper at times. As you say, it is onwards and upwards and it must be such a relief that Mr LD's current port of call has such a good reputation. Hope your cold is better soon and as everyone says, try and remember to make time for yourself, to put your feet up and watch some daft telly or just sit staring into space (one of my favourite activities!) If you can get into the garden, even if only for fifteen minutes, it will do you the power of good. I missed signing your card so here's lots of love and hugs from Ilkley XXXXX

I was talking to my hospital physio niece about recuperation for strokes and she says that the physios will be working with Mr LD but they might not be his best friends as it will be hard work for him, but worth it in the end! They will be getting him 'dancing again' (her words!).

          You really MUST rest LD.
When he does finally come home he will need you to be fighting fit. It sounds as though things have been wearing you down for a while and then to have the shock of Mr LDs stroke...well, its no wonder you are picking up viruses!

So you need to rest now, while he is receiving excellent care and visits from dear friends...you need to be kind to yourself for his sake as much as yours.

I'm so pleased to hear that Mr LD is doing better, every little change, however small, is a step on the road to complete recovery. Now that things are starting to look up and you're able to relax a little I expect that you will be open to viruses so I'm not surprised that you aren't feeling well. As everyone else has said, take care of yourself, you want to be on top form for when he comes home

Just caught up with the thread, lottie, glad to hear you get a free taxi all that way to St Lukes. The specialist stroke unit there should give Mr LD the best care and physio, and hopefully he will start to improve more rapidly and be able to come home sooner.

Lots of fresh fruit and greens for that cold, lass, look after yourself, chill a bit, (glass or two of wine perhaps?) and get yourself well again.

Hey LD, you need to take care of yourself gal, now that Mr.LD is starting to make the steps to recovery & is in safe hands you must look to your own wellbeing, when he comes home he will need you to be in 'tip-top' condition, from my own previous experience I would lay odds that not only your sleep but also your diet will have suffered since the onset of his illness, please, please, please try your very hardest to eat 'properly', sleep I know can sometimes be hard but if it helps they best way I found was to go to bed thinking of the moments that had made me smile.

Take care of yourself, MoMmy said so xxxx
