  • baby in my bosom!

Had a frantic phone call from my niece just now"Aunty, next doors cat has brought in a baby bird, can you help"
I rushed down(only two doors away)to find a tiny(I think) Magpie. No feathers, just the beginnings of them and cold, cold, cold.Put it down my capacious brassiere and thought"Well.if it dies,it will die in comfort"
I have given it glucose water from a tiny pipette and pushed boiled Quail egg and soaked breadcrumbs,in tiny amounts down his poor little gullet. To my surprise it is still alive and gaping.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated(and I know Magpies are a pest but!!??!!??)

We reared a jackdaw years ago and he loved porridge (ready brek was quick and simple) or brown bread soaked in warm milk

Hard hearted Hannah I am not, but I think there are times when it's best to let nature take its course.

If it's alive in the morning, it'll probably not die from shock ( of cat - not your boobs!!)

We use mealworm (using plastic tweezers )from the local fishing shop when we help out the local wildlife hospital.
2 hrly feeds dawn till dusk. Keep (warm and )covered overnight and you may get a lie-in
          It's tiring but very satisfying.
It does come in handy having big boobs don't it!!!!

Good on you for trying anyway, at least it had a comfy end not a cold lonely one.
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance
