  • Evening peeps!

It's been a little on the damp side at work today...the road was closed and it took me an hour to do my 15 minute journey home...

On the video..approx 17 seconds in, yellow and blue building on the left of the screen...that's where I work!

    • Sorry to hear you've had some really tough days, Lottie. Everyone here cares about you and is rooting for you. No need to worry how much or how little you say. It is great when we hear from you but I'm sure we all understand very well that you have an awful lot to deal with right now.

If other people think you are mad that is irrelevant (and frankly very rude and unhelpful) if you are happy keeping your plots on that's all that matters. No one else's business and I'm with other peeps in thinking that it is a good refuge for you both. Why should you give it up.

My uncle's wife was upset because some "friends" thought she should give up her two doggies after he passed away. As she said, they are her lifeline. Why on earth would she want to give them up. People can say the dumbest things at times. You do what works best for you and your Mr.

            • Good evening Folks, have been away for the weekend, and not caught up with the vine yet, was on for a short time over the weekend but was told we were having a break, it was an enjoyable time but started off on a shoogly peg, I was asked if I fancied a romantic weekend, and when I said, yes who with, there was a distinct drop in temperature, but once I convinced her I was joking, she accepted it (I think). The weather here is great and have even managed to put some tomatoes out side, I don't usually put any outside so will see how they go, I did catch a thread asking about a tower wormery? not a system I could use as I have flatworms, I do have a wormery but not convinced about all the blurb about the benefits of the produce. Well I wish You all a good night and if you are bothered with worms, try drinking whisky, if you drop a worm into water it survives drop one into whisky it will kill it, so drink whisky if you have worms. Goodnight.

                        • A bleary morning all from a very tired me. Cat woke me up at 5 so I thought as I was up that I'd check the garden over, as you do

interesting experience. I found several slugs. 1 was on right top of my hooped onion netting looking for a way in no doubt. Most of them as I expected were round my runner beans. I immediately saw that the netting I put round the runners to protect them from birds was enabling the slugs a very quick way to slide up it on the inside and get to leaves much higher up the stems. I had wondered at how the leaves near the top were being munched so readily. Hmmm so the netting was taken down tout suite and the sluggos were distributed in the wild patch at the back of the garden.

Apart from my fatsia japonica which the slugs also love, could not find them anywhere else in garden. Surprised they haven't yet touched my mangetout or squash. Famous last words I suppose. Now wondering if I should get a load of hostas for them to munch on. Anyway back to bed for an hour!

                            • Ah no, cadalot, I don't like to think about all the ways in which people dream up to kill slugs It's not for me at all. What other people choose to do is up to them but I have a big heart when it comes to creatures of all shapes/sizes. I'll figure out how to garden with them even if it means a smaller crop or even no crop.
