  • Just having an 'emergency' cuppa before I get cracking on a rather high pile of ironing ......

As its a bit cooler today - 'tho the sun does look to be lurking in those clouds, somewhere ... I might get to lay the weed suppressant membrane stuff on the path areas around my beds. I've got some slatey/stoney bits to go on top of it, just don't know if it's enough to cover whole area ...
Then there's all the extra tomato plants screaming to be potted into final position. Then there's some marigolds, nasturtiums and cornflower plants to be planted ....
Hmmm, just finish me cuppa .....

(Captn, lots of love to your brave little girl and her poorly little fluffy friend .... )

    • We're due a hot one today. 38 ºC daytime high, night time low of 14 ºC. I don't know how plants cope.

Have given most things a jolly good water to set them up as best I can. If this is the temperature now, what are July and August going to be like?

The toms look to be loving the conditions, as are the black fly on the broad beans, unfortunately. I've been killing them off diligently, despite the ant attacks. I didn't have time yesterday and this morning it looks like they've taken over everywhere.

Anyway, time to take cover inside and stay put as much as possible. Hope you have a good day, indoors or out.

      • Morning to everyone.
Overcast at the moment, but may clear up later, no rain though, so washing today.
The forecast for the next week is dreadful, although it will probably change again
All crops are ok, even the fence battered spuds.
We have a distinct lack of bees despite having flowers to encourage them. That means tomatoes are not producing fruit, I only have one baby Tommy
Garden project is on a rest day for hubby.
We must go shopping later on, our cupboards are barer than bare.
Enough rambling, have a great day everyone

        • Morning all! Cooler here, grey and dull. Yes, I know it's not the perfect weather for chillies and tomatoes but at least I can get my GH sorted. It's nearly the middle of June and ive not got half of my tomatoes in not sure why I'm so behind.

Susie, pass the kettle..I'm also gonna have another cuppa first

            • Just dropped daughter off for the start of her final year in school (6th yr in Scotland). They move up early before the holidays so they are all sorted out in advance and can hit the ground running for the new term in August.

I can't quite believe this is my baby's last year at school. Nor can anyone else apparently, she was asked if she was going into 3rd yr the other day. (She's petite.) I wish I was petite.

Anyway feel a bit weird and unsettled today so I'm going to crack on as soon as I've had my cuppa and I'm sure it will pass soon. The dump is calling me again (in the hope there is still some compost left).

Feel for your daughter cpt, we once got our hamster operated on for a tumour but he died during the op. Just because they are little creatures does not mean they are not worthy of big love. A life you love, is a life you love no matter what size body it comes in.

Wishing you all a kind and calm day.

              • I'm baaack!
Collecting car on way back from dropping my car off at another garage tomorrow morning.

Rary...it's all right....I'm the one paying....not you * passes rary a strong mug of tea to help him get over the shock

Funny thing is...and I need to share this.....
The horn was disconnected a while back ( ie the wires were yanked out) because it suddenly went off and OH couldn't stop it.
It hardly goes on the road so it wasn't such a big issue..but it's MOT equivalent is due soon...and it needs a working horn.
So...the garage are going to fit a little button on the dashboard which needs flicking to make the horn sound!
Waaaay cheaper than fixing the horn electrics and sufficient to get it through the MOT !!!!!
A switch for a horn?????- can you imagine that getting through an MOT in the UK????

                • Was sent an email from bathroom fitters today, to remind me of the pain of spending so much, including a thank you for the £9000 deposit and a pic of the bath.

At least I'll be able to stretch out in this one!

                    Oh my. Oh my.

                    Oh my. (Again )

I dread to think what the full bill is if that's only a deposit. Tell your wife she is an incredibly lucky woman, I hope she appreciates it. Your deposit would pay my rent for a year.

                    Your bathroom will be wonderful.

                      • Lets just say it's more than double that. We've ordered a cabinet built bespoke kitchen which is considerably cheaper.

                            • Today?
Tis a very rusty Disco 1 300tdi apparently ( well it's grey anyway ....between the rusty brown bits)

Tomorrow tis the turn of the TT ( the black car)

That needs something to do with one of the brakes and then something behind the console which is packing in. My fuel tank indicator, temperature display and key recognition are , and have been packing in for months...been putting it off for ages cos of the cost over £1,000!!!!!!

                              * tis OK rary...I'm paying for that too ...stop fretting!

Then it's beans on toast for the rest of the year!

                              • Morning all. Just catching up a bit as we had a cracking rain storm last night so internet went a bit wobbly.
Sorry to hear about your daughter's poorly Guinea Pig captn. I know its a tough decision
Nice and sunny here now but because of all the rain the kids sports day has been postponed until next week.
Kids are very excited as they are having a party at school tomorrow to celebrate the Queens 90th birthday day. Then its my dads birthday so we are going over to his birthday party. Two parties in one day as I keep being told.
                                Have a good day everyone
