I think the forecast was rain showers though nothing yet, best get out with the dog ...

      • Cg...can't find the ironing badge...even historically!
Look at the selection....I'm presuming they were uk badges?
You'd need arms/ sleeves the length of Mr Tickle to sew all those on

          • Morning all, dull this morning. Back to the grind after a lovely few days away. Anyone here from York? What's happening? We visit at least once a year and have notice a huge change in the city since last year with lots of shops closing. We stopped going on Fridays and Saturdays due to the huge amount of Stag and Hen dos from out of towners but did notice a lot of shops now closed. No more Mulberry Hall, Fossgate losing a lot including the furniture store and Loch Fyne restaurant. There are some stunning apartments being built at the moment but prices are way out of 'normal' people's reaches. York was always a place that we aspired to stay in our later years but if things continue we would never be able to afford to move there but then again there will be no shops to shop in only bars and restaurants. Such a pity really! Cheltenham is moving in the same direction with the London set moving up to have their families and because they have the cash house prices are going through the roof.
Perhaps that should have been in the rant thread, sorry.
Still haven't caught up on all the posts I've missed so I'm off to do that for a bit, once I get my tea.
            Have a great day all.

            • Good morning, back to hum drum after a lovely two week med cruise. My two friends were celebrating their golden wedding anniversary so the choice of holiday was a cruise. We had a wonderful time but it was hectic rushing around in the heat to visit and see as many places as possible.
I couldnt wait to get home to see my garden and it didnt disappoint. My sweetpeas are a riot of colour and everything seems to have grown so much.
I am pretty sure if I were here every day I wouldnt have noticed but its amazing the difference a few weeks make.
Have a good all. It will probably take me the rest of the week to catch up on reading all the posts.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

              • Welcome back from your cruise, Bramble

I am catching up with goings on. Had a really busy week, daughter's birthday yesterday and we've had no end of family visits going on. Still got visitors coming this evening as well. It will be really nice to get back to some normal and less hectic routine and had no time for gardening either.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

                • Welcome back Bramble sounds like your sweetpeas are doing well.

No Brownies or Guides in our area we all joined the St Johns ambulance instead, great fun tying each other up in bandages and playing bat man in our capes.

Got them home and the heavens opened, so they are stashed in the garage desperately wanting a drink
I'd like to plant them today, but it's down to the rain

...... The dreaded visit is over ......... And it went well, phew ... 'twas just me being paranoid ~ they seemed proper genuine and pleased to see me. Bought me some magazines (House & Home ..??) and some belated birthday cards...!!! They had a coffee and stayed for an hour, just talking about 'stuff' that's been going on at work (or rather THEIR version..! .
They didn't put any pressure on me regarding returning to work ...
I'd even done some housework before their arrival this morning .......
                          Glad that's over...
(the visit & the housework ...!!!)

                              • Good afternoon Folks, cloudy but warm today and an occasional shower, but still able to get into the garden, where I cut down some bamboo and have now used the canes in a frame for French beans, I am now off to make the tea, may be back on later, hope all this talk of ironing and housework is finished, I am not to happy when you all go on about things I cant/dont do.
