    • Good morning all. We have had monsoon rain and hail for the past hour. The sky is black and the sun is trying to make an unsuccessful appearance.
Think I may have to spend the morning catching on my ironing.
      Have a good day all.

          • Way too hot here recently for this time of year. Heading up towards 40 ºC in the shade. Had hoped not to need to water today after the big session yesterday, but it was hot and very windy, so everything needed another good drink this morning. Hot at night as well, which is unusual.

One of the old boys came round yesterday. Inspected the tom plants. They passed muster. He says it's likely lots of almond trees will die this year due to drought. They have lots of almonds on them this year due to mild winter and, unlike olive trees, the nuts won't drop and the trees will just gradually dry up. Last year was bad for the farmers. Looks like this year will be even worse. Losing a crop is one thing, losing your trees is something else altogether.

Hi Jay, basically it's as bramble said, politics &/or religion, basically because they are all but impossible to moderate with total impartiality, back in the day when I was modding on here there was a thread on the Scottish referendum which was allowed to run purely on a cultural & social basis.

                        • Afternoon all! Been a busy morning after a late night. I have to go out shortly to meet my visiting mother at Euston, so we had to have a quick wizz round tidying and cleaning ready for the Royal Visit.

At least she's sent the sun down in advance!

Have a good day everyone, I expect you won't feel the impact of the Brexession for weeks yet. Oops sorry, no politics.

Susie, I have a kettle in the garage, saves getting the kitchen one dirty when I messing with engines & suchlike (but it does get pressed into service in case of emergencies) I also have a telly in there so I don't miss Pointless &/or The Chase
