  • Morning all. Looks like another good one Will try not to let my seedlings get scorched by the sun today!

Hope that black eye heals up soon Nanny Sally. I once got a black eye from falling down the stairs and hubby felt that some people were misjudging him from some of the filthy stares he got when we went out anywhere together. Best to keep the shades on and act like a celebrity instead
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

            • Morning all, hope you feel better soon lottie...wonderful news that MR is coming home today, hope all goes well!

It's sunny but showery and chilly here today...no warmth for us I don't think. Housework for me and then try to pot on some toms which are still waiting for bigger pots...have no idea where I'm going to put them though.

NS, hope the eye heals soon and it doesn't spoil your holiday. The photos are going to look wonderful! Have a great time, I know you will.

                • Aww Lottie, you poor girlie.
All will sort itself out, but getting there always is stressful. Something had to give, unfortunately you.
I have a friend who cares for her hubby, she's in hospital trying to get Chemo sorted, but can't keep anything down, been going on a week.
I'm certain she is literally worried sick about hubby.
Try and have a little sit in the sunshine every day to lift your spirits

I'd have thought Spain would have celebrated it too!

Apparently France is going to cut down on it's public holidays and I wonder if this might be the one to go.
There are 4 in May!!!!! Crazy, espesh as peeps take a day or two off and have long weekends. Most things almost grind to a halt!

Nope, no public holiday here. What an irreligious bunch we are these days!

But taking extra days is very common here. If the holiday is on a Thursday, people will take the Friday off to make a 'bridge'. And in December there are two public holidays just two days apart (the government wants to do away with one of them), so if one falls on a Wednesday and the other on a Friday, people take the Thursday off to make an 'aqueduct'. So what with that and the extended festive period from Christmas Eve right through to Kings' Day (Epiphany on 6 January), virtually no work gets done in December.
