    • Afternoon all. Well have been to plot and finally got my 1st earlies in. My plot is a bit soggy but my dads has been flooded. It has flooded part of the path and then spread up his plot. Think about 1/3 is under some water ranging from a little bit on the sole of the shoe to shin height. He is a bit disheartened I think as most of his spuds are playing at being submarines.
Nice day here now so hopefully things will start drying up.
      Have a good afternoon everyone

        • Good afternoon all. After 24 hours of rain yesterday we have a lovely sunny mild day.
My potatoes are up, I took the plastic covering off and now have some fine netting to keep the cat off.
Garlic and onions are filling out nicely.
Plum trees (2) full of blossom and the big Chestnut tree behind our house is in full leaf.
Feeling optimistic that we have left the winter behind.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

              • Good news from the Cardiologist, heart in good nick, blood pressure spot on but you guessed it.....over weight! My ideal weight is 11st 8lbs!

Got to wait a few days for the bloods but fingers crossed I won't need blood thinners due to blood pressure results.

                Now what shall I eat

Comfort eating always feels sooo good at the time though doesn't it?

                  • So, Greenleaves, well done on BP etc and 11st 8lb as ideal weight? How much should you lose then? Or tell me to mind me own!!! I only ask 'cos it took me 12 months to shed 3st. It's ruddy hard work - 'specially when that third glass of Shiraz is coyly beckoning ....

see.... your granny was right when she said 'if you don't eat all your greens you won't grow'

Have you got curly hair?- or didn't you eat your crusts either???

Joking aside...it's doable if you really want to.

Sorry to read this, Susie. I've got my uncle's funeral on Friday and not looking forward to it. Gardening is very good for down times and also the vine. People here are very supportive. Make sure you keep popping in to get your daily dose of good and feel better medicine
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.
