  • Been a Gawjus day here, potatoes and tomatoes loving it.
More seeds up in the salad trough, think they are definately carrots. Other things, not sure on yet.
Spent a pleasant few hours in the garden with Mr. Obamas police, Blackhawk, Ospray and Sea King helicopters practising for his arrival. Flippin loud, but a sight to see, not once but three times.
Going over to our daughters shortly, so a good day all round me thinks
Oh, and good job we finally got to the bank this morning, there was only £40 left in it ....another good job was that I went there before I spent £41 in a clothes retailer called Mat

      • Bramble, I hope your visit to your Mother's grave offered you a little comfort today and that the gardening after was therapeutic for you.

The sun has been out in force today and always makes me feel much happier and more positive.

Got several broccoli seeds coming up now and just one tomato - come on tomatoes! One won't be enough! Hopefully there will be more propagator action tomorrow if it is sunny again. I am watching them like a hawk.

The pigeons have been very naughty and emptied all my bird seed again. They use the bird bath to leap off and knock the feeders until all the seed empties out. Had to take the seeds down now as too expensive to feed the pigeons who can eat for England as well as the small birds.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

        • Not been the best day today for me, traveled to Ipswich to say a final farewell to an old friend. I was cheered on the way home to hear Mr LD is making good progress though.

Been a long time since i have been to a burial and seemed harder to cope with but the sun shone on him as he made his final journey.......RIP Alby

            • Good evening folks, sadly Greenleaves they seem to come quicker as you get older, just be thankful that you are going to theirs and not vice verca. It has been a lovly day here today but did not get lazing about OH decided to introduce me to those famous composers, I had said we needed polish so that was shopin, and as I wis hungry she produced a list, but saddly it wasent just for shopping as we had to wash down the conservatory, again this had been done not that long ago, I have been out and lit s fire in the greenhouse as it feels as if it will be cold tonight, I also keep a fan running overnight to avoid any frost damage. Well I wish you all a good night as I am off to watch a DVD What We Did On Our Holiday, will let you know if I enjoy it. Goodnight
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

              • So sorry to read about the loss of your friend, Greenleaves. I liked your description of the sun shining on him which seems very fitting.

Well I hope the rest of this year is more pleasant for all of us, too many sad things going on, and that Nicos manages to get rid of that pest of a fairy. If Nicos is still actually reading the vine while on holiday - lucky thing

I'm off to catch up with masterchef I think. I normally do some work after daughter's in bed but can't be bothered now so am either slacking or showing my age. Have good evening everyone.

Don't know about showing my age but I don't half feel it.

But enough of that. . Spent the whole day today taking down what would have been a kitchen cupboard which was boxed in leaving dead space when the kitchen was modernised a few years back. Anyway, managed to get to the stage where I've added 4 squ feet of floor space to the lounge or 32 cubic feet. Still got to sheet it with plasterboard but that will be a piece of dawdle . I do love it when a plan comes together even if the chimney breast got in the way of adding more floor space than I ended up with.

Tomorrow is taking down the plasterboard on the gable wall. Doing that because someone made a pudding of stripping wallpaper from that wall at some point and it is simply easier to take it down and start again rather than messing about trying to mend a broken egg.. Mulling over just sheeting on top of the original but I think I will stick with taking it down.

Haven't had a snooze tonight even although I am well weary. Sitting enjoying a bottle of Asdahas Whitechapel Porter. I'll probably be asleep in a heartbeat

And the cold weather! Have stuff to be planted out, am behind with sowing seeds, and also doing an 'online course!

Sunny but v cold this morning, where is warm spring weather please can you tell me ?

Hope all ok, I see lots of new members, so that's good, hello to them.

                            • Morning! Another nice morning here, will hopefully be getting on with my planter plans today if all goes well.

Will need copious amounts of tea first though, struggling to get going this a.m.

@Dotty - jealous of your incinerator, it's one of those things I've wanted but can't justify buying.

Supportive thoughts for anyone who could use them, virtual kick up the bum for any procrastinators (me ) and kind wishes for everyone else. Have a good day!
