  • Morning everyone Yes I need a strong drink - coffee ha ha not the stuff that makes me do daft things like hum the birdie song at the top of my voice. Looks lovely and sunny out although looks are often deceiving when it comes to weather.

Not sure what we're doing this weekend. A long one with Bank Hol as well. But for now will enjoy browsing vine while I wake up. Hope everyone has a good'un!
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

    • P.S. Hope you and your fam get better soon NVG. Sounds nasty.

Got to rush and get dressed as step-son coming over to use our shower as his isn't working. So not quite the leisurely normal Saturday but hey ho

      • Good morning everyone that's up
It's sunny here for the moment at least
Had a right failure yesterday due to other commitments, all our veg stayed covered all day. The toms didn't even get outside
They are all sunbathing now I may add
Work this afternoon for a rest lol
Nothing planned for the weekend, we are redundant with our Daughter, she has a new boyfriend and doesn't need us. We, of course will be there should this fail
        Have a great day folks

            • Morning all - cloudy but sun trying to break through here.
Well, got my new hearing aids yesterday. I have been wearing hearing aids for 13-14 years now and they have got more and more sophisticated and powerful - if you think how mobile phones have developed in that time frame, you will know exactly what I mean.

The audiologist did say it would take my brain a couple of weeks to get used to the extra aural information but bloomin' heck! Who would have thought that the extractor fan in the cooker was so loud - last night it sounded like a Boeing 747 taking off! Just walking upstairs - the rustle of my slippers on the carpet and the creaking of the stairs (and my house isn't even that old). How do all you 'normal' folk cope with such a loud world? Gosh, I hope my brain does adjust and ... quickly. It is all very strange. Oddly human speech does not seem that different - it is all the extraneous stuff.

Anyway, jobs to do before I go down to Herefordshire. I may even get around to doing some planting although that is more likely to happen on Monday.

Have a lovely (and apparently noisy) weekend everyone.

              • Morning All

Marie, I am curious, how do you hum at the top of your voice?

Bad luck on the runners BM, glad you had another lot to hand.

The sun is shining and i am wasting time that would be better spent over the plot. I wish you all a happy and healthy day........

                  • My runners have still not sprouted so it seems that I will have to send for more seeds to sow direct. Sod's Law will be that as soon as I have the ones in modules will appear

                    • Good morning all. Sun is out but its still cold and cloudy. Have an unexpected day off from pitch and putt today so I am going to put all my tomato plants back in the greenhouse and pot them on as they need to go into bigger pots now.
Kelsae onions also need to be moved into bigger pots as well, so lots to do today.
Hope everyone has a good day and a good bank holiday weekend.

                        • Me again.
It's bloomin hot outside now. Lawn is being mown by hubby and a wash and brush up of the tomato buckets to follow
Looking at the foreward forecast, night time temps are definately on the up. So, going to plant them outside on Monday and put their buckets in a nice sheltered spot. Then cross our fingers.
What a hoo ha this year, no lettuces are up in the veg container, just 4 spring onions out of a whole row and all of the radishes
Will be re sowing with hopefully more success on our return from Vegas
Did I mention that we were going next week lol

Two deliveries of plants this morning - that's been keeping me busy.
10 Fuchsia berries and 10 lucky dip fuchsias which included 3 more Fuchsia berries 5 Giant trailers and 2 tiny ones that are supposed to be climbers (aka tall)!
Just finished potting those up when 3 Blueberries arrived (GYO mag offer). Nice looking plants, in pots too, so that's saved me a job
Hope you're all enjoying your day
