    • So sorry to read your news Janie. Life doesn't always make sense unfortunately. It is easier to accept older people passing away as the natural order of things but so much harder to accept when younger people do. It doesn't seem right or fair at all. Glad to hear you are back gardening as it is bound to do you some good and offer some comfort with your loss.

Congrats Vixlix on your new home

Well the BBC was all doom and gloom about the weather over the weekend but I'm happy to say they were wrong. We had a very pleasant weekend and especially yesterday which was beautifully sunny and warm. Yes it is undoubtedly cooler when the sun goes in and overnight but other than that we've been lucky.

Excited to see green shoots emerging on my very late planted onions already. And 3 out of 4 runner beans planted out seem to be really thriving - the 4th is OK. I made little "jackets" from bubblewrap for them to cover the tips up overnight and have netted round them as the pigeons were nicking beakfuls of the leaves. Slugs seemed to be having a whale of a time with them too but have protected the bottom of the stem with wraps from plastic bottles.

Hubs wasn't thrilled about bringing all the plants in was it Friday or Sat overnight but good job we did as PT got down to just 1 degree.

Wishing everyone pleasant start to the week

        • A www, Janie, I feel for you at this so sad time ((hugs)) go out to you x

Feelin a bit 'blue' myself today and feel it's a bit selfish, but it's the 3rd anniversary of my lovely, lovely wonderful old Dad's death today, and it still feels terribly, terribly wrong ...

And I'm only on here now as I've been 'sent home' from work to 'rest' .... harrumph, don't really do rest..!!
Told I shouldn't be driving, either until I've been to TIA clinic on Thursday .....
I think it was a migraine, but as I've not had one before it's tricky knowing what to compare it with ...

Anyhoo, I'll be dipping in on this here Vine, apologies to all if I start waffling on more than usual, but as I'm supposed to be resting, sitting down with iPad fits the bill

          • Morning all, went to bed at 10.30, was awake at 11.45. Came down, made tea and watched a series I had recorded for three hours. Back to bed, read for an hour, then awake at 10 am.
            Jet lag at its finest.
Any ways, our crops survived any low temperature that we may have had, coming along nicely.
Is there a thread of view from the back door anyone? I know there's one from the greenhouse. I have taken a few photos to show you
Work this afternoon, so looking forward to that, as long as I don't fall asleep lol
            Have a great day

              • Good morning and a sunny morning here but theres a right nip in the breeze. I suppose thats what happens when you live on the coast.
Off out today to pot up all my tonatoes into their final pots.
Have a good day all whatever youre doing.

                • Morning all..

Well what a beautiful and busy weekend that was

Saturday was haircuts for myself and my 4 year old son (hated sitting in there waiting, looking out at the sun which I feared would disappear the minute we left!!)
Then football camp with the kids and spent the rest of Saturday in the garden mowing lawns, rearranging greenhouse layouts, potting on, rearranging greenhouse layouts again, more potting on, some weeding and more potting on. And more rearranging greenhouse layouts again
Saturday night was at a party in neighbour's house until quite late. Good fun!!

Sunday morning was bringing the kids for swimming lessons and then ice cream, and time for more gardening thankfully. Felt quite energetic despite my late night on Saturday.
Did lots of sowing and weeding and made good progress on general tidying up of stuff. Then a game of soccer with the kids and off for a few nice creamy pints of Guinness with another neighbour last night.
                  Very pleasant weekend indeed...
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

Which is exactly why you should be inside with your nose pressed against the window. Just waiting.

                            • Out of place - me!

                              Always
Imagine a blurry eyed old biddy who needs glasses for shortsight at best, who is hopeless with a mobile phone and is standing outsde a hospital with poor mobile reption, trying to ring for a lift home
At one point, I was lurking under a tree for shade, wearing sunglasses over reading glasses and still couldn't see who I was phoning
Anyway, the blurryness is wearing off and I can see a lot more dust and cobwebs. Should I complain?
