  • Morning all! Grey and breezy here. I wanted to get the fleece off the courgettes... Hmmm.

Going to take the 5yo to the plot for some watering and plant-related demolition. The PSB is finished, literally and figuratively.

    Have a good 'un, folks.

    • Ok! Who got the sun this morning. I don't seem to have it any longer. Could whoever has it please hand it back, I wasn't quite finished with it yet.

Think today may be a tidy the house day as it's been sorely neglected over the last few days. Well, you have to don't you? The sun comes out, you have to go out too. Thems the rules.

Anyway, have a good weekend everyone.

      • Morning

Thanks re eggs on calendula info. Shall keep a watch. I've seen quite a few cabbage white this yr. I wasn't expecting to have to net my flowers.

Well got my flowerbed sorted yesterday with help from birdy who seems to have taken me on as mum. This started few weeks ago at the greenhouse, yesterday stayed with me all day. Chirp chirp chirp , had itself a nap by the pergola and later more of an annoyed chirp obviously wondering where it's worms were.
This morning I went out and in it flew and behind me hopping along after me on the decking bit concerned as its very tame and there are cats round here, the dog was a bit bemused by its behaviour

Last night did slug patrol and found a whopper on the decking , must've been 2inches and half inch wide. Not a green yellow mottled one ,we get plenty them but brown.

Not a good pic but here is slugster and birdy.

Not sure what today will bring, crisis point with dad last night, my brother had to go round and calm dad. I will see how things are today, may have to go through tonight . Have mil coming for weekend too, we could really do without due to dad /mum situation.
          Onwards with the day ...

No sun but a positively barming 13.8 outside, well barmy if you comparing it to the last few days. Got a bit to do in the back garden today then off over the plot for a continuation of my project.

              Have a great Saturday everyone

                • Morning all, we definately have not had a share of anybody's sun for ages.
Apparently someone's going to hand it over tomorrow, so play ball, whoevers got it please. I've washing to do doncha know
Funeral went very well. Didn't get back to the reception as we got lost and then, when we did find it, the car park was full and no parking to be found locally
So we went home and raised a mug of tea to dear, brave Micky P.
Back to today. Crops are all growing well, seedlings are all up, despite the stolen sun
The garden project is at a standstill, remember I mentioned fencers not being called last week?
                  Well, he didn't
Doesn't matter, he needs some rest anyway
Working this afternoon, but so looking forward to the sun returning tomorrow and getting out into the garden.
As an afterthought, my big white Lilly has pushed up 7 beautiful stems this year. Anyone know anything about splitting them. I would like more of these
Have a great day everyone, and remember, it's our turn for the sun tomorrow, so play fair peeps

                  • Morning all. Grey and overcast here today though I'm not keen on superhots sun when I'm working in the GH and ive still got lots of toms to put in their final positions. I seem to be very late this year at everything! I may be composting a few of the beef type toms, not sure many will ripen at this rate.

Started with the uni open day visits yesterday, a two hour drive home turned into nearly 5 hours last night, absolute chaos! I think the next one we visit will be made on the train.
                    Have a good day all!

                        • Good morning,

Grey and cloudy here. Who has the sun???? Own up! Off out this morning to B*N*Q to buy a hoe and have a wonder around the garden center bit outside. Then off to the allotment to do some weeding on my strawberry beds.

                          Have a good day

                          • Containergardener, maybe you could introduce the bird (if you think he's big enough for the job) to the slug...

Grey day here. Pre-storm quiet: not a single bird or insect to be heard. Better go and see about covering up the cars when I'm done here.

Spotted an absolutely amazing female red-backed jumping spider this morning. Bright, bright red and amazingly stripey legs (like a zebra). Never seen one before and it was a little bit aggressive with me for such a tiny thing. Glad I resisted killing it before Googling it. What a wonder the internet is.

Anyway, hope you all have a good weekend.

                            • Yeees, hmm - still waiting for that bright yellow globe to come play, here too .......

My lovely old neighbour has bought me around another 3 tubs of flowers (all home grown by him and Mrs lovely old neighbour) - wouldn't take anything for them, so I barrowed a bag of compost and a good bottle of Rioja round as a thank-you
