      • Good morning Folks, its a beautiful morning here and warm, up this morning and every thing still in good working order, and no hair missing so far, watered all my plants and spent half an hour checking baskets and dead heading finished up with a lecture about how I can spend that time tidying up baskets but can't do it in the house, now know why so many teachers are women, they like to lecture, well have a good day everyone hope the weather is good for you

              • Just got back from a Vide Grenier and managed to buy absolutely nothing!!!!

                That'll be a first then!

Was hoping to find some excess veg plants up for grabs.
Last week we bought 3 very healthy green courgette about 8" high for 1€
...we'd sown 4 yellow but they've not germinated!

Ah well at least it's not raining and we can crack on with preparing beds and planting out this afternoon

and nope- no sunshine here, but at least it is warmer than earlier on in the week.

The one I saw this morning had wings, as in the second picture on wikipedia:
                  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empusa_pennata

It was probably about 12 cm long. It was in among my Pink Fir Apples, so I hope it was getting a good feed. There are lots of tiny little green grasshopper like things making holes in the leaves.

My sweetcorn seedlings are sunbathing in the prime position, will have to move them before they dry up
Washing drying, just pottering around with a sunshine smile back on my face

                          • Barbecue was 'interesting' to say the least.

Next time I will know to wait until the charcoal goes grey and there are no more flames before adding burgers and sausages.

                            Oh well.

Still hot here, in fact it's so hot and sunny that we had to come back indoors.

I'm not complaining, just not used to so much heat.

The secret with BBQ is to let the charcoal do the cooking not the flames otherwise everything will either burn to a crisp or taste of fuel........after lighting, let it burn itself out before putting food on, it could take up to a hour to die down. The oils from the food tend to re-ignite the coals which is fine as long as you keep your eye on it.

                              • My friend used to cook everything in the oven then put it on the BBQ "to give it some flavour" because that way she wouldn't be eating under cooked foods.
