  • It's an absolute scorcher here already - pity I have to work. Might see if I can snaffle an early finish. You've certainly had a naff few weeks Nicos, hope it all comes good soon

Here's a good recipe for anyone who likes to do the same (and speed matters up):

Pressure Cooker Pork Ribs - OUT of the pressure cooker and ON to the grill! ⋆ hip pressure cooking

No bugs, big or small, spotted so far today as I've not been down to look at the plot yet. Watered my winter veg patch late last night (after yet another massacre). Did quite a bit of weeding too. The onion and garlic beds are looking a looking a lot better than they did. Shame the onions themselves aren't looking that great, but never mind. Late night weeding is quite relaxing. Weeded from maybe 11.30 pm onwards for an hour or so. Cool and calming, despite all the little flies and moths attracted to my head torch. I don't much enjoy weeding during the daytime - too hot and bothersome and feels a bit like a waste of time - so might try this more often. That said, I think I'll wear sturdy boots down in the main patch, as I have seen snakes and real tarantulas (not just wolf spiders) down there...

Hope you all have a jolly day.

      • Morning!

@ StrawberryP, I did think you were a bit quiet again lately, I hope things get better for you soon.

Happy to report it's sunny here again. Shame I need to go into town with daughter to get shoes/skirts etc for school. I did try to palm her off with the offer of just giving her the money and she could go with a pal instead but nope, she wants a day in town with her Mum. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate our close relationship, I would just appreciate it more if it was raining today. I have plants that need me too. I know, I'm awful, lol.

Anyway I wish you all a fandabbydozy day!

The sun is out, going to be a lovely hot day. So I am going to get myself down to the allotment and do a bit of work and maybe try and do a bit of sunbathing. I need to give my plants a good watering before it gets to hot today.

            Have a good day

            • Sorry to hear of your troubles SP - hope things look up soon and hear more from you on here when you are able

GG - no contest between shopping or gardening. I am a rare breed of female (in our family and circle of friends anyway) that loathes shopping and finds it incredibly boring. Both my sisters are into expensive clothes, shoes and fancy hair styles and I am quite the opposite. Unless it is shopping for plants ha ha.

I don't think I posted here yesterday. We finally had a day of sunshine and I enjoyed a whole day of gardening and sitting in the sun. It was great. More days like that please. Finally got squash and courgettes out of PT. I can see my very first pea growing on my tom thumb peas which is exciting - my big peas are way behind some still to germinate. Finally getting flowers appear on toms and some little cucumbers growing.

Fog is burning off and then I shall be outside. Have a good day all
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

              • Happy Sunny Mondy
Glad to hear the Sun is spreading himself about a bit more. I threatened "him" with my pointy stick. I think he's scared of Nicos and won't go near her - just in case she zaps him
I'll be missing for a few hours later today. Have a hospital appointment which will certainly involve eye drops that make your eyes huge and yellow. Just right for Halloween but not so good for a sunshiny day - apart from the wearing sunglasses without looking a poser bit. Best I do a bit of GH watering before I go.
                Enjoy your days

Glad to report that the sweetcorn seedlings have recovered, won't be putting them in full sun again .....
Complete change of plans yesterday afternoon. Went to our daughters as she was not very good.
Sorted her out and she made us a very nice salad tea. So Sunday's roast will be today
Fence panels etc are to be delivered today, so hubby will be busy. Should have phoned the fencer to get a slot shouldn't he. Never mind, he feels confident enough to do it.
Me? I'm off to work later, and I won't be expecting miracles in the garden whilst I'm gone.
                  Have a lovely day

                        • Morning all, hope you are well soon Strawbs!

It's another beautiful warm day today but we are off to Cheltenham on Thursday for a few days and then a couple of days in good old York (thanks son for puppy sitting! ) but and there is always a but...the weather doesn't look to be very good! Never mind a few days away will be lovely. Trying to get son to gut his room as Harry dog sleeps in our room now due to his nightmares but won't be able to sleep in sons room unless he does a tidy up as he is a doggy who chews anything chewable!
Hope you are all getting a share of this beautiful weather...sorry Nicos, it's on it's way I'm sure...have a great day everyone.

                              • Morning all, the sun is out and I'm at work grrrr.

But...... I work from home so will use my 'tea breaks' to get outside.

I left my potted on brassicas outside last night and I haven't killed them, in fact they looked far happier this morning. I'll leave them out again tonight and if they seem happy I'll get them planted out tomorrow

                                Enjoy your day everyone
