        • A heartfelt thanks to everyone. I didn't want to make a big deal of this (he was my cat and not yours, after all. And a pet, after after all), I had to say something as I talk about Dom quite often and he has been, of course, a great part of my life for 17 and a half years, He's seen off (in years) three of next doors cats, one neighbour's dog), two neighbours next door , one neighbour over the road, and of course my beloved Oli cat.

Dom survived a fall from a first floor balcony as a kitten; a glancing blow from a car once we we moved; a liver 'thing' which could have been either (a) fatal or (b) 5 day course of tablets to cure. (it was (b)) I had him as a kitten from a bad-ass neighbourhood, and it showed in his attitude through his life; never a lap cat (but sneaked onto the bed every single night after lights-out tucked up for a cuddle).

A hunter in his prime; bird and mice dispatched rather than played with. His match was a blackbird, who was brought in through the cat flap and denuded of about three quarters of her feathers over two floors of the house - there was some sort of stalemate by the time I came home to feather carnage, a 'not-bothered anyway' cat, and a beady eyed somewhat chilly blackbird on the kitchen sill. She flew away (unsteadily) to tell the neighbourhood about it - he left them alone ever after.

And in later years he's just been 'here' and now he is not.

I'm with my sis this weekend (a well meaning colleague appraised of the situation said - with a great deal of practicality, if not tact - 'well you've saved on the cattery cost at any rate'. ) which will be good in lots of ways.

Thanks for listening - normal levity to resume in due course.

              • Morning all!
So very warm still, couldn't sleep, neither could Toby dog - he was sitting quietly just looking at me, willing me to get up, I think - so I did ...

Anyway, teas brewing and I'll take orders for coffee too, if anyone prefers.. ☕️

It's my lovely, departed, too young to die, cousins birthday today . Lots of tributes even at 6 am
I thought, I'll go on the Vine to cheer myself up and now I've been crying at Hazels lovely post about Domino, who definately was a Vine cat.
                    Silly moo aren't I?
Anyway, work today. I would love to visit the garden centre and start buying shrubs for the new project, but hubby is still in 'resting' mode, so no chance there I think.
It's Friday folks and we don't look like rain today, but you never know

                        • Tried several times to post something supportive here but nothing seems to sound right. Really feel for those of you who are going through sad times just now.

Animals are far superior to humans in this regard, they can show their love and support without inadvertantly saying stupid things.

Big hugs for all those who need them. x
