  • Pleased that went well Susie .
Having a quiet minute, day didn't go to plan. Mum rang to say dad was up in air a bit so was taking out to GC for coffee, got another call to say she had an accident, so we had to zip out with her having dad in car. Bit of a shock . Feel a bit overwhelmed myself now.
Not sure what we will be having tonight for tea but something simple.

    • OK - I know I did say that the ground was a bit dry and that the allotment could really do with some rain, but this is just silly now. On the way home from work an utter deluge - rain so heavy that double speed windscreen wipers could not cope and had I not been on the estate at home and able to drive very slowly, I would have had to pull over. Enough now ... thanks very much.

Bought me some magazines (House & Home ..??) and some belated birthday cards...!!! They didn't put any pressure on me regarding returning to work ...
I'd even done some housework before their arrival this morning
        Glad that's over...

        • Glad everything went well, SusieG. That must be a relief.

Sorry to hear your news, Containergardener. Hope your mum's OK.

Things here troddling along. Finished off drawing up well water this morning. Everything give a right good drink. Only for it to rain a bit this afternoon. Not much, mind, but probably enough to bring the snails out.

Need to tie up the toms again but there never seem to be enough hours in the day for everything that needs doing. Would help if I didn't spend so much time on here or pondering on gas BBQs (before anyone says charcoal would be better, we can't have charcoal here because we live in a forest-fire risk area).

Have a jolly evening. Mr Snoop has just decanted 5 litres of biodynamic merlot. Guess what I'll be drinking tonight?

          • I now have a pond at the lotty thanks to all this rain - only trouble is that its inside the polytunnel and more like a lake!

                • After unpacking and doing four loads of washing I spent the rest of the day in the garden.
We had a few showers but other than that it was a warm dry day and I got loads of work done.

Computer having one if its moments again. Think OH will have to do a system restore on it.
Been raining all night here again so looks as if the allotment is out again

                    • Oh forgot. Yesterday my trainers finally gave up the ghost, my socks were so wet when I got home from dropping the kids off you could ring them out. So went to local Tes@o to have a look. Ladies shoes were all sandals and stupid wedged things, you can't dig very well in those I told the OH
I can fit into a size 3 to 4 shoe so I headed to the kiddies section. OH again not impressed. I found a boys sneaker type shoe size 4 and they fit perfect. Were £21 now down to £6. Bargain or what.
If I get the job I'm going for tomorrow it means I can wear them for that because my feet are so small and I am so short my trousers always cover them

                      • Morning all. I'm up early as I'm meeting the head of the parks department at the allotment to undertake the site inspections this year.

At the reps meeting I informed him I would not be doing them this year as they did nothing about those I photographed last year and other plot holders have now seen that the council is a dog with no teeth and where as normally they would make an effort to not get an improvement notice.

Most plot holders have said if nothing has been done on X,Y & Z why the hell should we worry? As a result, that attitude combined with rubbish weather standards have really dropped this year resulting in many unworked and waist high weedy plots.

                        • Morning All A bit later than usual for a work day - I left my phone at work yesterday and I really couldn't be bothered to get the lap top out this morning. It's dull and warm here and Himself is complaining that he has to visit the outlaws and pick me up from work, drop me at the hairdresser and then pick me up again - and all during the match. I've said I'll walk home from the hairdresser, but he insists he's picking me up so who am I to complain? Besides, it'll make him a martyr and we all know men like to be martyrs don't we?

It's a bit drizzly and breezy again today (not breezy enough to keep those little midgies at bay!). I think I will play in my tunnel or buy gardening products off the interweb...........there must be something I need.

                              • Morning!
A very misty, dull dreary start here ... Probably more of the same wet stuff in store again ..... I've had enough of it now!
More slug damage to report... It's really disheartening to see all your tenderly nurtured seedling/plants being drowned/eaten. (I'd like to eat SOMETHING too please slugs.. )

Yes, I'll have a cuppa please NVG !!
